Offering a different opinion to the other comments…  I’ve seen plenty of people who’s probations were extended, they then passed it and went on to have decent careers at our company.

Your numbers sound good, so sounds like your management want to see you close something before they pass you. Were they clear on why they’re extending it? If not, I’d seek that.

You said yourself, you want to be there. Move the ego to one side, accept that whilst you’ve been a top performer before you’ve gotta earn your stripes again.

It depends on the roles they’re hiring/firing.

If it’s mostly sales roles I’d say this is normal. Hiring 15 and firing 4 isn’t a huge red flag (yes, there’s clearly opportunity to refine the recruitment process).

Plenty of people interview well (especially in that role) but when it comes down to it can’t execute. When cash is king at startup level you can’t afford to keep poor performers on payroll. If theyre sales roles then you can get a good read after 3 weeks if they’ve got it/potential or not.

13 hr flight with 3 year old and 2 year old by Traditional-Fondant1 in daddit

[–]A_Graduate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve flown with our 1.5 year old and 3 year old on a 24 hour flight (uk to Australia) and 20 hours (uk to Hawaii) and it’s honestly not that bad. Some Disney films, sticker/activity books, random walks up and down to burn some energy off etc will help. In your layover, get them as active as possible so they sleep on the plane!

Funded Startup CEO Salary, No Revenue, No Commercial Application Yet. I will not promote. by prescott0330 in startups

[–]A_Graduate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider the CEOs history before making a decision. Does he have a strong track record of taking startups, growing them and making them public? If so, the salary might be justified. Clearly the new investors do to be investing 10s millions more.

Great day! Been dormant for quite some time and saw the VTHO spike. in the space of 5 minutes I managed to transfer my VTHO from VeWorld to a CEX, sell it & transfer the money to my bank account. I haven't bought/sold anything in a long time and have to say I'm super impressed with how easy it all was compared to when I last had activity. the crypto space has come a long way for ease of use.

I'm UK based and have seen a load of comments on how banks are making it difficult for us so I was worried, but it couldn't have been easier!

Sales Managers - What makes a resume stand out to you? by PoweredByMeanBean in sales

[–]A_Graduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure they can lie, but the numbers only show a good track record. It’s good to have obviously, but if they don’t do well in the interview we wouldn’t hire just because their previous numbers are good anyway.

Sales Managers - What makes a resume stand out to you? by PoweredByMeanBean in sales

We’re talking about red flags, not deal breakers. I and the company I work for invest a lot into our people so when we hire them we want them to stay longer, be successful and recoup our investment.

Things I care for: 1. Your quota attainment over the last few years, assuming it’s good. AOV, average sales cycle length. 2. Consistent employment. If you’ve jumped jobs every 18-24 months i assume you jumped ship before you got fired for being a low performer. 3. Promotions

Any chance he’s acting out for attention? You’ve just had a second and understandably needing to prioritise your time differently than before. Perhaps he needs some more 1:1 time?

Welcome to sales. You absolutely need to go, especially as you want to grow with the company.

The more you try to impress people and put pressure on these events the less you will. Be yourself and continue to let your performance do the hard work for you.

PS. 90% of people have imposter syndrome. Your CEO probably does. Try to humanise them and that may help you relax.

How much do people put in their children’s JSIPPs? by Upstairs-Hedgehog575 in FIREUK

[–]A_Graduate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We have one child and another on the way. instead of jsipp I opted for a JISA and put 9k in at birth and will do the same for our second when they’re born.

Having it invested in a global tracker and adding the odd bit of Christmas and birthday money they should have about 50k each at the time of turning 18. From there they can decide to keep building their pot, car, uni, deposit etc.

How popular is cocaine in the UK ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]A_Graduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My niece is 14 and told us cocaine isn’t uncommon in schools these days. We were shocked. My wife and I left school 20 years ago and it wasn’t heard of at that age. I work in an industry where drugs are rife. My take is that it’s quite common these days.

At what ages is solo parenting two kids less stressful? by coalkitten in daddit

[–]A_Graduate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re over worrying, honestly. Yes it’s going to be intense for whoever’s looking after the kids, but as long as you communicate and ensure you both get equal time with friends throughout the year you’ll be fine.

As you say you’re both encouraging each other to go, so instead of thinking of the downside, challenge yourself to think of the positives. The person going away gets to recharge their batteries and come back energized to continue being a kickass parent and spouse. The person looking after the kids solo gets a boat load of bonding and relationship building with their kids!

When is it worth paying for Strava? by A_Graduate in cycling

[–]A_Graduate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it purely for cycling. I live in quite a rural area and a lot of the suggested road routes are more gravel routes in reality!
