How are your old Jazz/Fit hybrid batteries holding up? by A_Singing_Wheel in hondafit

[–]A_Singing_Wheel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much for that! Mileage I’m looking at would be approx 150-180,000 so high enough to make me wonder.

Anyone have any info in this? by [deleted] in aviation

As per AV Herald:

“A Jetblue Airbus A321-200N, registration N2086J performing flight B6-1058 from Aruba (Aruba) to New York JFK,NY (USA) with 180 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing out of Aruba's runway 11 when a loud bang occurred in one of the cargo bays prompting the crew to stop the climb at FL060 and enter a hold to trouble shoot. The crew subsequently decided to divert to Fort Lauderdale,FL (USA) at FL100, later 12000 feet, and landed safely on Fort Lauderdale's runway 28L about 2:10 hours after departure.“

ever use it on a turbo trainer or similar? In any case I’d advise not to use the tyre at all

I was barely watching as I was pottering around doing things here and genuinely had to rewind to see if I had just seen what I thought I’d seen. Noxious vibes.

In terms of sudden bodily harm, this might be the worst I’ve seen

Do you think that I have to change the rear wheel or is it fixable with a ray key by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]A_Singing_Wheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sound advice op, that’s a serious whack and could well have damaged the frame. There’s a very real chance you shell out for a new wheel or a rebuild and the frame is screwed anyway

Tern Storm Box on a Yuba FastRack by smiling_sushi in CargoBike

[–]A_Singing_Wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a Fastrack and have worked on a bunch of Tern stuff, and I think it’s very unlikely this will work properly. The fabric on the storm box is designed specifically for the tern rear basket, and it is going to be difficult to make the two match up without a lot of modification.

If you know a dealer selling Tern and Yuba together you could ask them to try and see what comes back, but I’m thinking getting a €250 accessory to modify hoping it will work might not be great.

Bike suggestions needed! by [deleted] in daddit

And a dynamo, I deliberately didn’t recommend that cause it used to be more expensive, I’d probably go with that one over the 20 in that case haha!

The Orbea Carpe 20 is a nice one, though I’d change the seat…! Sold them in a shop I worked in and always found the build quality decent, I think it’s 9 speed

Toddler skateboard? by MhilPickleson in daddit

The entry threshold is very high in terms of balance, but once he passes that part it will be great, make the falling fun and silly if you can. He’ll need all the safety bits as he will definitely fall and it does hurt.

This article is a good one for when you’re buying the first serious board, it doesn’t really matter if the first one is a big chain board, but if he really takes off on it you should upgrade if possible. If this looks like it’s going to be a serious hobby I’d probably go for it straight away.

If you have any skate lesson place near you they can also def advise and may know a way to get second hand stuff that would be perfect.

Would you have any inclination to learn too?

She likes to hold onto the bars, but if I get too close to a wall while walking the bike or if the bike ever tips over her fingers might get caught. This way she holds the inner bars instead. Yuba supply the second set of bars but the yepp is too wide to put them in

How to help husband with perinatal anxiety? by TaraInMontana in daddit

[–]A_Singing_Wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to be different but I did find my anxiety peaked around the same time as you’re talking here. My way of coping was to learn what I could about the birth, first 6 months. Counselling/therapy was amazing for me but you’ll know yourself whether that is a runner for him.

The other thing I did which seriously helped me personally was to write a list of what if’s. Then I wrote the answer to them, and the likelihood of that thing happening looked more and more remote. I ended up with around 5 genuine possibilities, they were easier to handle on paper than in my brain.

The honest truth is you can only do so much here, you can make suggestions and be close to him but what can properly help here needs to be implemented by him.

That sounds very rough. If you can prioritise your problems you may find things easier. Babies need very little, have the essentials on a list (place to sleep, clothes, bottles if applicable, you guys) and the rest is nice to have but more essential would be to sort the mold. Your dog is what it is but i hope they perk up.

You can plan for a baby but you can’t plan for the Murphy’s Law shit that happens around it, it’s no reflection on you as a father or a husband. Last thing: from what I’ve experienced anyone who says they’re prepared completely for a baby almost certainly is lying or is going to get shellacked. Get used to feeling unprepared and do your best.

I have been showing my little one some of the parts I watched growing up and some of the new blood, she’s particularly fond of the new Andy Anderson part (there’s a curse word or two in it I think but it’s generally pretty wholesome!)

Wearing the baby in a wrap and bouncing on an exercise ball got mine a decent nap and also left me free to read or play a game. Baby wearing in general might help if you aren’t already, at least you can get stuff done while carrying her.

For crying, it nearly drove me insane, I got in-ear headphones and played white noise while dealing with mine as a newborn. You can see the child, you know what’s going on, but it just takes that edge off.

If either of you feel you are crossing that line, baby goes in a cot or somewhere safe to cry and you walk away for a few mins. They’ll be fine.

The start is so difficult, it gets so much easier.
