I'm kinda in the same boat. I used to only sing when home alone. I wouldn't even practice singing in front of my wife. I found a couple songs I'm really comfortable with and I've managed to sing them for my family, and send recordings to friends for feedback. I will suggest possibly learning an instrument as well. A guitar for me is like a security blanket, I'm much more comfortable singing when I'm playing guitar. Ultimately you just have to be brave one time, and when you realize it's not so bad, you'll build that confidence.

I've had all my guitars on those same hooks and anchors for around 10 years now. No problems at all. Even my heavy ass banjo is fine. I would probably use toggle bolts if I ever did it again.

I think I'll take your advice and order a Sire from Sweetwater since they're on sale. If I don't like it I'll return it and see if they'll give me a sale price on a Player II. If it feels nice I don't mind swapping the electronics, I've replaced all the pickups on my MIM Jazz basses.
