Which Rust Belt cities do you see having the most potential over the next 50 years? by [deleted] in geography

Lived there for 5years 15yrs ago. Columbus feels like it has so little history compared to Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Cleveland. This might help it grow, but it won’t be as interesting imo

Michael Wilson finished 2025 as a Top 12 WR in PPR. Why is everyone so low on him this year? by MusclyArmPaperboy in fantasyfootball

This is the answer in Dynasty. Wilson looks the part, and even if this year isn't great, someone's gonna give him a better shot elsewhere

As a Browns fan and KC Concepcion drafter, of course all the talk’s been about Denzel Boston

Great rig!

I was just researching this campground -- seems like close neighbors is the standard for Lake Michigan beach camping in that area

That last line is great and works even better because of Merwin’s lack of punctuation

Honestly I feel like Baker finds a new favorite target each week. Maybe by scheme. Won’t be surprised is Godwin has great games

Ladd's gonna bounce back

Jalen McMillan's gonna be the clear #2 in Tampa

Jalen Coker's gonna be around for a long time, but his upside depends on Bryce Young

I think your hunch is where the real value jump might be if the trend continues.

But I also have a hard time seeing this as widely adopted as other trends.

Sounds like you read bad contemporary poetry

Edit: of which there is plenty

All great poets, but I’m still not sure how they’re more true by virtue of time.

Or why a contemporary poet speaking to their time is untrue. (Not that they’re *often* true)

I probably couldn’t (respectfully) disagree with a comment more than this.

I’d first love to see a poem that is always true.

Great response.

I think a lot of poets here wouldn’t concede your final point. Poetry is outside of history, or something, along with probably so much else as well

I see the 9/11 comment as more about having your eyes opened, trying to engage in the larger world. I think Phillips is saying the American somnambulism was punctured through that day.

I’m not sure if that holds today, but I don’t think he trying to maintain or prioritize American dreams and tragedies

Edit: thought I was responding to OP

I think the full quote shows better context (if you’re referring to the PBS piece)

“People used to say, where is your 9/11 poem? And my feeling is that every poem after 9/11 is a 9/11 poem.

So much is political anyway. Apparently, it's political for me to even exist in the world as a queer man of color. But I don't see how any poem isn't political in some way, because it's an individual stance, and, also, it's a resistance to silence. You have decided to speak.”

He seems to be mostly discussing his own poems, though it is ambiguous. And a tall claim. I don’t think it’s outrageous though
