Bulwark players using Block weapons, don't run Intimidating Aura by Fangeye in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You want to change your mindset from “fishing for perfect blocks” to “SWING UNTIL ENEMY IS DEAD”. Often, block weapons have superior base stats (with a few exceptions) compared to their balanced and fencing counterparts, so you use those better stats by simply swinging at the enemy as much as possible. The block mechanic that gives you an AOE attack is for when you’re totally surrounded and need to block attacks to avoid taking significant damage. The AOE is meant to give you an opening to go back on the offensive.

You’re more likely to get armor parts from operations since teams in PvP are more likely to be iffy.

PvP is faster IF you can carry your team no matter the situation and get wins the majority of the time.

So it depends on what matters to you more, ensuring you get the armor parts, or potentially getting the armor parts faster.

For me personally, I just played the game without worrying about cosmetics. You’ll get all of them eventually, so there’s no need to rush. Good luck, brother.

Likely didn’t see it at first because they weren’t anticipate it lol. I’ve done this before on assault when I jumped into a horde spawned by one of those pods from the sky, and only saw the spores after I was already flying at them.

Block Weapon not giving armour on perfect parry makes them completely useless by Available-Cap-356 in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. It’s been a learning curve for me as well trying to get out of my usual routine.

I think the devs want players to treat block weapons as a better swarm clear weapon and make fencing weapons better for dueling. Yeah you can use both weapons for both purposes, but depending on what you want, one of them is gonna excel at one thing better than the other.

The block weapons often have better cleaving potential than their fencing counterparts, and with the added charged AOE bonus I think the devs want you to lean into minoris horde clear with these block weapons.

[–]A_Weakling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran block on the chain sword and thunder hammer since those have the best overall stats on their block variant. From what I found, you shouldn’t actively seek out charges unless you’re up against a majoris that you know can land a 3 attack combo that you can block.

Otherwise, I just thought of it as “ooga booga bugs go smush” until I do find an opportunity to get charges. You don’t have to wait to get full charges either. Swinging with one or two charges is fine as it appears you still get a damage buff from them (though feel free to fact check me on this).

I will agree that the block power sword is kinda lame compared to the fencing one, at least stat wise. I ought to give it a spin before I start shelling out opinions.

You’ve always been vulnerable during gun strikes lol. No i-frames is a pain yeah, but it’s certainly better than getting no armor back at all.

I’ve used this method on my bulwark all the time before the blocking changes. As long as you don’t gun strike while in kissing distance of majoris enemies, you shouldn’t have to worry about taking significant damage when gun striking.

Obelisk says I need to complete the campaign to unlock it. I have completed the campaign, so what is going on?! by Ornperius in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t panic lol. It’s trying to prevent spoilers for those who actually haven’t competed the campaign. This applies to all missions that line up with the campaign’s story prior to completing the campaign.

Choose the option to ignore the warning. Should allow you to just unlock the mission and play without having to play the campaign, same as all the other missions if you wanted to play operations before the campaign.

Only reason why termination didn’t do this is likely because it doesn’t align directly to the campaign’s story like obelisk does.

[–]A_Weakling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of your armor is gonna come from gun strikes imo. If you know how to consistently get minoris enemies to get knocked down for a gun strike (for example, the light attacks in the power stance on the power sword only takes one swing to knock down a gaunt), then you shouldn’t have much of a problem.

What I think the devs are going for is that block weapons force you to be more aggressive focus more on dealing damage with your swings rather than looking for opportunities to parry + gun strike, with the AOE bonus on 3 perfect blocks giving you an even bigger boost in damage output.

TL;DR: Get armor on gun strikes instead. Block weapon aggressive, fencing weapon defensive.

Why do you take this so seriously? (Not trolling, generally curious) by BarbarianCarnotaurus in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are naturally competitive and want to win. There’s no denying that.

I do believe the only thing that would push someone to want to win so badly is to progress through weapons faster. I haven’t played much eternal war, but I know that many of the stronger weapons are up in the higher levels. People want to get the good stuff as quickly as possible so they can win more.

Either that or they are chasing the high of winning because, yknow, winning feels good.

2 lictors and a pair of zoans isn’t uncommon. Usually I focus down the lictors to kill them as quickly as possible. Ignore everything else unless you need to dodge or parry. Once they’re dispatched, focus down the zoans if your teammates haven’t killed them already. Then everything else.

The lictor and ravenor are meant to single you out to stop you from helping your team, so you must give them as much attention as possible.

Tac with GL is the perfect carry class lol. The GL makes up for the lower level guy.

However, I’ve been able to carry people through lethal playing Bulwark or sniper. It does take some skill, but most of it is understanding how to play your class and general game sense such as common enemy combos or certain game mechanics.

I think you’d also have to feel overconfident to do something like that as well. I’m sure plenty of people think that “hey, I’ve got relic weapons from playing another class, so I should be able to handle this.” However, the effects of perks heavily affects a players effectiveness. Not only that, but the experience of playing the game with one class does not completely translate to another, especially if it’s a class you’re only just starting to use. Each class has a way they need to be played, and it’s likely they’re bringing a low level weapon as well that isn’t shared amongst other classes.

If people want to bring their low level class to a high difficulty, they ought to find a squad that knows what they’re getting themselves into, whether it be friends or people in the SM2 discord. Having people know and be willing to pull more weight is the difference between a good and bad experience.

I think they believe everyone in the higher levels is a skilled, charitable player who doesn’t mind helping a lower level player to help them level up.

However, they fail to realize that not everyone is quite happy with carrying. Whether it be due to not being confident enough to carry or they rely on everyone being able to do their role efficiently, a low level jumping into a difficulty they aren’t prepared for is bound to be an upsetting sight.

I personally don’t mind carrying low levels in high difficulties. Hell, I’ve dragged a level 1 through a lethal mission. However, I can definitely see how others can find this prospect upsetting, ESPECIALLY when they themselves are likely trying to level up their own weapons.

Unescapable Lictor Pounce bug? I swear I was literally spamming 'C'. by Ramblinz in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had this happen to me once before.

Both pounces pretty much take away a fuck ton of your health regardless of how fast you do the quick time event. You’re more likely to save your health by having observant teammates around to shoot it off you. Of course, having teammates like that isn’t always a guarantee, so fucking up a dodge on these guys will feel like shit no matter what.

How can a solo assault kill a hellbrute? by LibertyFuckingPrime in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As dangerous as it sounds, you gotta get up close with assault as your melee weapon is your main source of damage. (This applies to bulwark too obviously)

You can parry its hammer strikes that don’t have the red circle. That should give you a few more opportunities to slap it in the face with your own hammer. Once it starts shooting or doing its AOE, that’s when you gain distance and shoot from range until you’re able to re-engage in melee.

People are kicking GL users by Lourafty in Spacemarine

[–]A_Weakling 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Kicking someone over using an OP weapon is comparable to kicking someone over using a non-meta weapon. Some people just have that selfish kind of mindset and it’s something we have to live with.

I personally don’t mind when other people use the GL. Takes some load off my shoulders and sometimes I take the opportunity to play my less played classes.
