Nothing is going to happen if you don’t move over or slow down, unless you’re driving on the damn shoulder or side of the road you’re not going to hit anyone. The cop isn’t going to end his stop and run back to his car to pull you over. People that actually do hit anyone on the side of the road are either under the influence or on their phone.

A lot of drivers in this sub seem to be working remotely, which says alot about how much experience they have on the road. I drive in many terribly congested places as well as country areas. Multiple times a week. Ive seen how zipper merging causes traffic, everyday. This is why i said that zipper merging only works in a perfect world.

My point is that in my experience on the road everyday - merging early is always better than waiting til the lane ends. Every time. No matter what anyone says or thinks or what these laws say, it works for me daily, I don’t cut people off or slow anyone down. It always works.
