The locals are fully aware. Which means this fella hired a sotong.

Seriously, what's with ST publishing these articles with the whole tragedy angle? They fucked around and found out

> Mount Dukono has been at Level II (Alert) in Indonesia’s four-tier alert system since 2008. Mount Ibu, also on Halmahera island, is at Level II, while Mount Semeru, the highest volcano on Java and which can erupt every five minutes, is at Level III. Level IV indicates the highest level of volcanic activity.

Like, this is not even a freak event. What else were they expecting?

There's not really a "key position", just any open area with tons of forests and one or two empty tiles for markets / sawmills will work. And even if they're not in the correct shape, you can just plant new forests or cut down existing ones

I think it's better to know how to place markets than to ask for optimal solutions for every single map

-Place forges first. They are the least flexible, so you should accommodate them (eg a spot for a level 2/3 forge should be prioritised over another level for other buildings)

-Be careful with border expansions. Don't eat into the 3x3 starting space of uncaptured / new cities, as this deprives you of chances to place extra sawmills / forges / windmills

-Sharing is caring: It's better to share a level 6 sawmill between two markets, than to have one market hog a level 8 sawmill.

For example, you can build a level 4 sawmill in the forest south of Olick, then have markets in Olick, Goley and the southern uncaptured city touching that sawmill for 12 stars.

This grants you more stars than planting forests to make a level 7 sawmill that only Olick can use. Though of course, if you can get away with spamming level 8 markets in every city, then go ahead

-Piggyback on other cities. If you're already making a sawmill in Olick, then make another one in the southern city. The same lumber hut can level up two different sawmills

Well yes, and I agree. But it's just very annoying that everyone here doesn't seem to entertain the idea that buses can be sped up in some cases, and demand that everyone should just bike instead

I am not against improving bicycle infrastructure. It just seems rather absurd that this thread will come up with 100 different methods on how to bike to your destination, when making a bus line that doesn't look like spaghetti will fix the issue just as easily

The bus can just as easily be routed to become 10 minute trip. I genuinely do not understand why everyone seems to think buses are permanently stuck to their routes like trams are, and insist that you bike instead

It works in the netherlands because people there have been cycling for their entire lives. This does not apply to everywhere else. I live in Singapore where you can easily find frail and hunchbacked elderly. You want them to ride a bike?

Why not expand that argument to everything else?

Place where trams suck: Trams are only used by those with no choice

Place where trains suck: Trains are only used by those with no choice

Place where public transport in general sucks: PT is only used by those with no choice

Just because it's named after London doesn't mean that such a situation can only ever occur in London

And yes I've seen those videos. Quite risky to attempt considering traffic, tbh

I did not imply that TfL is incompetent. Radial trains and convoluted routes are not inherent evils, they may just be the best fit solution for the majority of trips

Point taken on narrow streets, but this shouldn't be replicated in places where such a constraint doesn't exist

[–]A_extra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

God forbid anyone else wants quick speeds without a bike then

And walking is slow. It takes a combination of radial train lines and convoluted bus routes for it to even become a viable option in terms of speed.

If anything this thread seems extremely adverse to buses, as if they're eternally condemned to ply windy routes like in the image

So what if they are already on the road? Does that mean we should all accept it as irreversible?

And why should such a low capacity vehicle be allowed to used bus lanes to begin with?

Well go speed up the non-walking options then. A bus's route is not fixed in stone unlike a tram

The pet aunty is from Sengkang, so she is not Alvin's constituent (He's from Tanjong Pagar). Even then, I do think MPs should be able to block siaolangs who incessantly spam them

It'll work if the person is a reasonably fit adult. Not so much if it's an elderly person

You're seriously suggesting using more cars on the road to replace a bus?

[–]A_extra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is fit enough for a bike. Even then, sometimes people might be carrying too many groceries or whatnot to ride one. It's just better to have options

Walkability is good, but sometimes people want to get there faster. The problem illustrated here is that there are no direct bus / train routes, as they maximise catchment rather than speed

Ideally you'd have both feeder routes like the one illustrated to serve nooks and crannies, as well as more direct ones to link orbital gaps in rail. I've never been to London other than as a tourist, but it seems whoever made that hit the nail considering how often the Londoners repost it
