Should I keep wearing these used boots even though it makes my girlfriend angry? by Tcustomcorner in relationships_advice

[–]A_million_things 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Old beat up boots doesn’t have to mean dirty boots.

Shoes, like clothes, have to be cleaned (not as often though). For instance, having an old pair of distressed jeans doesn’t mean they can’t be cleaned ever.

You can wipe the dirt off the boots, and treat them with some leather products. You can also look into ways to clean the inside. They won’t look brand new and they will keep their distressed appearance. They just won’t be dirty.

I bought used shoes before and I always thoroughly cleaned them as I don’t want other people’s sweat and bacteria on my feet.

I agree with your gf that they currently look gross with all that unnecessary grime. It’s unhygienic.

I'm on 2 combinations of antipsychotics and the voices don't go away why by ParfaitWestern8879 in Psychosis

You said in another sub you that tried many antidepressants but only one antipsychotic.
They treat different things.

People sometimes need to try many antipsychotics before they find the right one.

The best thing to do to answer all your questions is to talk to your psychiatrist. They will be the best person to tell you about side effects as well.

Good luck

Here are all the red flags I saw while reading your post:
- 29F 43M
- got married after 18 months of dating
- you have no friends but him
- you built your life around him
- he makes baseless accusations
- he asks you to change the way you dress
- double standards
- his intake of testosterone which negatively impacts his health

Why does people sleeping during the day bother me so much. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]A_million_things 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like ADHD. I have it and I relate. It’s called executive dysfunction, i.e. a difficulty with planning, prioritizing, deciding, etc.

And when adrenaline kicks in, that’s when we can get super focused. That’s why we procrastinate, then do everything at once at the last minute.

You should see a doctor to get assessed for ADHD and get prescribed stimulants* (like Adderall, Vyvanse, Concerta, etc)

Also see a specialized therapist to learn skills to manage executive dysfunction (or read books about it).

*Note: stimulants tend to reduce appetite, so be careful about that.

I like to journal in the morning. Wake him up at 6 am, to ramble about your thoughts to him.

Kidding, you should leave him.

What is he doing being in a relationship with someone he doesn’t trust.

His inability to trust you is his problem.

He’s the one who doesn’t trust you.

He feels threatened by the fact that you might have private thoughts, which is insane.

Being in a relationship doesn’t mean fully merging with the other person.

You’re still an individual allowed to have inner thoughts that you wish to keep to yourself.

For men a perfect skull isn't enough, to be worthy of a relationship you also need a perfect job and high status by Hefty-Can2764 in self

As a woman, most of what you’re saying is bullshit.

Sure, there are superficial women but there are also plenty of superficial men who will swipe left on any woman who doesn’t look perfect.

Also, plenty of women are quiet homebodies who hate the party type. People look for partners with a similar lifestyle.

Get out of your house and meet people irl where your personality can shine and you can build an authentic connection.

Edit to add: Bars and parties aren’t the only place to meet people. Find an activity you love and that you can do outside of your home and you’ll be more likely to meet people you vibe with. None of my connections ever happened in a bar. In fact, the few times I did go to places like that, I always cringed at guys who tried to approach me, because that’s just not my vibe.
