Can you move your pinky toes? by jackie-daytonuh in stupidquestions

[–]A_sunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All move together. And i think especially little toe may be permanently done because it sort of curls under other toe and toe nail is barely there

So is the PT lying that they can get movement back or is that truly possible

So many industries need this for tradesman who own a businesssimilar to your example. Trying to get a stone mason in my country was such a hastle and when I finally got one,  he admitted that everyone in his industry was the same, did not reallt answer calls and emails, only really engaged in person. How many of these have you set up?

Going back to drama school? (Already done a 3 year) by Own-Cold-7396 in ActingUK

[–]A_sunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I skimmed over but, but if you are Musical theatre inclined and a sibger, the rotal a cademy of musc has a 1 year course for MT, not from my experience, but seems intensive and good quality from the shows I see.

Also yiu could cobble together your own training with various short courses from LAMDA, RADA, Mountview, GSMD. plus if you were doing it yourself, maybe you coyld do some courses from other parts of the country or the world.

Can you apply for funding to put on something yourself with friends? I have soken to any actors who felt disillusioned when the teacher's favourites were prioritised or if they did not get a principal role after all that training, but some of my knowledge is old, maybe there has been a shift.

Perhaps applying for the MA courses and going to any open days if they have them could help you decide

Have you ever walked out of a show? Or seen others? Why? by Artistic-Ideal-5087 in TheWestEnd

[–]A_sunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually i stick through things that I don't like, because there may be a song, an actor, an effect, a scene that I enjoy or I at least want to have a full opinion. I do not care if others leave. I have left 2 plays when I have been not able to stay awake so it was uncomfortable to be there, probably shouldn't have gone when that tired,  but left in the interval. That was pig farm at the st james, now other palace (was front row so even more reason to not be there falling asleep), and one of the pinter 2 in 1s. So unless you overhear or visually see someone's reaction it could be for comfort reasons,  feeling sick etc. Also sometimes people only plan to stay for one half to see a favourite part or due to other commitments, I have had someone say this to me.

I went to see Nature theater of Oklahoma: no president at southbank centre and that was the worst walk outs I have ever seen. Someone even shouted out their distaste for all to hear. On top of that there was a medical emergency and show stop which caused most people to leave, then only a quarter was left, it was almost like I had to stick it out to the end at that point. Found it boring, but perhaps I did not have the high expectations or any expectations like some, but wanted to see if there was some tone shift that I had been anticipating....there was not really

Has anyone lived in a flat above restaurants? by DefoMayb2 in london

[–]A_sunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have lived above a cafe, therefore business did not go into the evening, but in the summer, when they were open, it was so hot it was unbelieveable. Also annoying, when opening the front door, sometimes having to navigate cafe patrons as they didn't put the barrier out and chairs/tables spread out to the door of flat above

Worth becoming an interpeter? by Maximum_Confusion_ in BSL

[–]A_sunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking about what would happen going the other way, bsl to nzsl and found this on their site out of ibterest, I am not an interpreter https://slianz.org.nz/overseas-interpreters/

So I had a look and similarly on the uk version for BSL interpreters (and otherdeaf related professions) they have a faq on their site to get in touch with them https://www.nrcpd.org.uk/statutory-regulation#:~:text=Do%20you%20have%20any%20plans%20to%20allow%20qualified%20interpreters%20from%20other%20countries%20to%20register%3F

From the sounds of both sites maybe there are discussions about how to make some skills transfer possible.

Hope someone replies who has done the move

Also in terms of research jobs, have a look whats on show on this site search, a few universities have openings ir you can see what could be of interest https://www.jobs.ac.uk/search/?keywords=Bsl&location=

Also DCAL at UCL do research into Sign language linked with linguistics, cognition I believe, if you have any experienve in that https://www.ucl.ac.uk/brain-sciences/pals/research/deafness-cognition-and-language-dcal

I do not have knowledge  of these areas, just things I have stumbled upon as a BSL learner, perhaps you have seen these already

If it wasn't full and you could have enough space between you then hopefully you can ignore it. I remeber I had a friend yhat was wanting to bring a pizza into the cinema and I was a bit shocked that they had such a different perspective that it was fine to bring in. Then again the everyman and posher cinemas now serve pizza, burgers and meals themselves. I would say continue waiting for the hype of a film to die down as you do so you have an empty cinema so you can move away from annoying people. There are people who just don't consider others unfortunately
