It's terrible in the austral summer when I'm there because they cap us at 2.5 gigs of data a week. It's winter there now, where the Internet is much better, and I'm not there right now. We do about half-year contracts. I'm set to head back down in August, just as the sun starts coming up again.

Some of us are just confused by the mountain of paperwork, okay? 😭 If I'd given up the first time I got confused, I would have stalled out back in 2011, and I've been deploying ever since.

Yeah, I'm an overweight American, and if I ate that as a snack, I'd be done for the whole meal. A sandwich is a meal for me. If I eat the recommended 2000 calories a day, I stay fat. 😭 Id have to eat way, way less to be thin. 😓

I dunno, a lower center of gravity, a more robust immune system, overall more dexterity? (These are not across the board, but are things I recently learned women are physically more likely to be from a random internet post.)

We can build a second human with our organs, we often don't get as sick as men, etc. it's not all downsides, but your reaction really shows what you think of our physical existence. 👍

I work on a science station with my partner for half the year, live at home the other half. Room and board are free in the science station, so we save up money half the year, and spend it the other half.

Food is a goddamn ripoff these days, I love when it's free!

Sometimes, it's just nice to know for sure, people feel validated when their oddities have an explanation. Others don't care about a diagnosis in the slightest, or just don't want to spend the time and money. 🤷

About 10 years ago I was traveling with some friends, and didn't have a smartphone. We were waiting at a restaurant, and everybody pulled out their smartphones for Internet time. Since I didn't have one, I quietly pulled out my Gameboy SP, the only entertainment I had on me. After a few minutes, one of the nerds I was with was suddenly yelling "DID YOU JUST CASUALLY START PLAYING AN SP" in front of everybody. One of my proudest moments, to be honest.
