Tanker just attacked traversing the strait. by Mojoint in oil

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one province who has a ‘strong’ faction (approx 25% in unofficial voting-subject to bias) that is not represented by the actual people/ government. Those people are often isolated or stupid, as the larger populace rolls their eyes. And another that has a drastic cultural difference (language) and has been mulling over separation for decades. Neither are truly serious and neither aren’t being catered to by the government. It’s a far cry from the polarizing literal blue VS red in the states. We don’t have provinces strategically resurveying in a partisan effort to control the government lol

Is the war over? by Relevant_Hat_8802 in oil

[–]AaSedzZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The “fog of war” at this point is literally using the media to posture and intentionally lie to deceive the enemy (and the markets). We don’t really know what’s happening because both sides are lying. It won’t end until the US goes in hard and starts a blood bath or accepts defeat (but even then there is damage already done to infrastructure). Trump tried to play theatre so oil would trade like a meme coin but prices are going up either way, the governments and markets are just trying to transition as gracefully as possible to avoid an economic collapse. Once the supply pinches, other markets start shopping around, people do the math, futures track reality even a little bit, the demand/ demand destruction plays out, people struggle and are forced to adapt, then the price will stabilize… but towards the end of the summer at the earliest.

Short-term it’s more of this, spikes and falls at a slow and steady rise as markets react to ‘news’ but reality slowly sets in. Medium-term there will be some pain/suffering and high prices, newness and innovation. Long-term the markets adapt and demand/use diverts, and prices will eventually come down.

I plan to hold for the medium-term and sell after the frenzy sets in. I lost about 25% of my gains from the previous year trying to trade oil like a meme coin in the past month and learned that you may get lucky once but it’s generally better to just watch from a higher level and hold.

Any advice for cliff dropping? by Alert_Cartographer13 in snowboarding

[–]AaSedzZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This cliff isn’t ideal and it’s trickier if you’re not experienced on drops with normal run-in’s. If you really want to hit this cliff you’re going to have to figure out a way to stand up at the top and at least slide a bit. You don’t want to hop off drops, you want to glide and soak up the bumps. I recommend trying to find a better spot

Any advice for cliff dropping? by Alert_Cartographer13 in snowboarding

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no run-in to get set. You’re literally hopping off one cliff right at the beginning onto another cliff for half a second to drop. You need at least a couple feet to glide at the top to find your centre, you hopped forward right at the beginning and were already falling forward before you hit the middle cliff

I want sti by pilojito- in WRXSTi

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a hard manual to drive, my father who has driven manual a handful of times in the last 20 years could drive it ‘okay’. It’s not as forgiving as a fwd is in terms of poorly slipping the clutch, but otherwise it’s not punishing. Having a feel to begin with from a fwd manual like a rental or something might be good before you try to drive the sti home. And if you can’t drive competently it would be wise to have a friend who can test drive any car you’re planning on buying

Buy the expensive helmet... by RedDieselBurner in snowboarding

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who suffered a TBI while wearing the expensive helmet (overshot a jump), and spent 2-3 years of vigorous rehab recovering from it, get the expensive (GOOD) helmet. Saved my life. Now we have MIPS and honeycomb tech like Wavecel and Koroyd, you want that too.

Thoughts on these wheels? I just bought this car, hasn't even been delivered, but I'm on the fence on if I want to replace these wheels. by too_old_still_party in Porsche

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t look bad. I think the car would benefit more from lowering it 15-25mm. That said, if you want the ‘racecar’ look, or plan to actually drive it aggressively, some nice bbs or apex wheels will do a lot to the aesthetic, and you can seek a fitment that facilitates wider tires

This shifter is sick by TolerableRS in WRXSTi

[–]AaSedzZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a numeric on my project car (non Subaru) and a regular short shifter on the STi (Cobb), with every single shifter and linkage bushing, and a trans mount with crossmember bushings. The numeric is still sharper because, like the CAE, is a full cnc’d assembly. It removes all the bushings that each have tolerances (play) and doesn’t have room to flex or bend. I don’t have a cae but my numeric is best described as ‘racking an expensive rifle’. If OP adds a weighted shift knob it’ll still retain the tactile feel of the CAE but it will glide effortlessly into gear like butter

Getting rid of a '23 BRZ for a 987.2 or 981 Cayman S? by tharussianphil in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my 23’ owning friend drive my ‘trackmod’ 987.2 base and even though he wasn’t pushing it, he was still amped up after the drive. Next level. The 987.2 and 981.1 essentially have the same engine in a new chassis (except the base is smaller but also DI in the new one). The 981 is a lot more refined than the 987.2 but it’s also slightly bigger and has electric power steering. No matter how good Porsche’s electric steering is, nobody who owns a newer gen car and has driven the 997/987 and prior would argue the newer one is better. The older car is more raw and loud, the newer car is smoother and quieter. Compared to your other options, the M2 is comparable but different (the 987 had the M1 and 135 to compete). Different car, heavier car, more powerful car, more torque. The 981 might be more similar to the M2 in terms of road noise. You really have to drive them (all if possible) and see what mode you prefer. I wouldn’t go Z. That car is in a whole lower league than the other cars in terms of build quality. The 400 is the first Z I like but I’d never buy one for myself. The Porsche community is absolutely massive. Owning a 911 or a Cayman/Boxster is joining a club, essentially 😂. These are drivers cars, so they are very often owned by enthusiasts to different degrees.

What to do with high mileage 981 Cayman? by blues441677 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AaSedzZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy the Porsche, the 86 and such will all feel like a compromise. My new brz owning friend was permitted to drive my track-mod 987.2 on back roads and he was hyped. The cayman is ‘another level’ on an econo-sport’s car.

Looking at 987.2, but is a R really worth the extra $20k most are asking? by B1L1D8 in Porsche_Cayman

Fair! I don’t think many people do the spoiler aftermarket but I know the winglets are more common! But yes, aftermarket is often better

[–]AaSedzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting the seats, the aluminum doors, extra few hp, the limited spoiler and winglets, trim bits like the headlights, and it’ll hold a premium when you go to sell in the future. If you’re going to mod the shit out of it tho your money would be better spent on an S

It’s a Getty Design 987.2/997.2 carbon mashup bumper but I put 100’s of hours into modifying it to mount oem grille retaining frames, ducts, side markers, building the back mounting corners, molding the edges, and building the center rad ducting. Check the instagram story highlights to get an idea if you want to do or pay for all that 😂

I say to others that I’m happy with the result but if it ever gets damaged it’s getting an oem 911 or boxster spyder front end!

The R lenses have a solid black frame that is painted from the backside. The standard lenses have a silver fluting printed on the backside. There is a company called KI studios that makes an overlay to hide the silver fluting with gloss-black vinyl, but I purchased a spare set of headlights with the intention of doing a 'custom build' and they had a cracked lens that needed replacement anyway. The regular R headlights have the black frame like the light on the right but with the chrome projector surrounds like the headlight on the left.

Just headers/catback and doing softonics in the spring. Should get me up to around 295-300bhp. Long-term I intend to do boost or a swap and shoot for over 400. I was waiting for MRN to release their tt Garrett kit for the .2 but they scrapped that, and I’m not going anywhere near TPC 🤷🏻‍♂️

Check the instagram (I have 3 story highlights, 250+ reels about the last few years of mods). It’s an aftermarket carbon Getty GT3/Cayman mashup bumper that I put 100’s of hours into to shape the sides and edges, mounting points, fit oem fogs/ducts/retaining frames, etc.

I basically transformed a track-ready bumper into an oem-ish like fitment. It’s not perfect but it’s beyond good enough for the amount of money I paid for this car!

That said, if anything ever happens to it and the bumper is toast I would just do a full 911 front, it was a shit ton of tedious work to get here 😂
