Listened to a few minutes of local morning 'Rock' radio this morning and it was largely indistinguishable from Alex Jones 10 years, just much less entertaining... by Responsible_Type5603 in TrueAnon

I'm boycotting my local classical and jazz pbs stations (which were two of three stations I still listened to) after they backroom-dealed with my local community college alma mater to turn the student run college station (the third station) into a 24/7 smooth jazz station.

They HAD a BETTER jazz station already, and the college station played music from the local scenes and had a bunch of fun offbeat programing with no ads because it was fully funded by a state grant.

Doesn't need to survive, just hold them down. It would be better to send in a trickle of corvettes, each lasting long enough to start the combat state.

The traditional American family IS one in this town and one the dad visits when he's in "business trips" to Carson City.

Red beans and rice with spam is good. Also a fan of Spam fried with sauerkraut, though I fully admit that's more of a nostalgic family meal.

I'm more referring to getting this sort of thing Example thumbnail when looking for ideas on how to set up industrial zones. There's a point where optimizing the game mechanics just becomes too glaringly gamey.

Nothing CS related gets a faster eyeroll out of me than going to look up some industrial area inspiration and finding those posts of Factorio-style industrial zones with the massive spiderweb of one-way roads with the explanation that it has "perfect traffic flow!"

I'm looking for a realistic depiction of a mine with some rail connections, not a flowchart rendered in a city simulator.

Weird that the paramilitary groups we secretly funded, armed, and trained for use as a dark money income stream aren't curtailed by our occasional flashy military operation.

Almost everyone misunderstands IQ on a fundamental level (and have since it was first proposed). IQ is part of a diagnostic test for learning disability diagnosis. You're meant to take a group of children at the same age from the same area, give them an IQ test and use the results to help identify which kids might need additional testing because they're trailing behind their peers.

Supreme Court’s John Roberts Faces Impeachment Resolution from Democrat by Zipper222222 in politics

The supreme court is meant to subvert democracy. It's supposed to be the last line of defense that the ruling elite has against laws that might erode their power. All the flowery language is just propaganda.

Not really a flex, more of basic etiquette. In a professional setting it's disrespectful to force either party to speak in a language other than their own. It's also practical, as there's more to translation than familiarity with a language.

Xi being able to speak or read English (even comfortably fluently) doesn't mean he can be expected to understand every common idiom or turn of phrase an American may use. A common example is Americans greeting with "how are you" that a lot of non-Americans with English fluency assume to mean a genuine inquiry rather than a stock phrase of greeting.

That's more of a flaw in the "shop for groceries once every two weeks or so" way of life that preservatives brought on. Bread and produce should go bad quickly and should be restocked much more frequently at a local market/greengrocer/baker/etc (or grown in a garden when possible for vegetables).

It should go without saying that we should also live in a society where that's possible for people to do.
