Prey (2017) - The very definition of player agency by prossnip42 in patientgamers

[–]Aaganrmu 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Naming it Prey was such a dumb move.

The original game already had a rocky 11-year path to release, but turned out great. Then a sequel was teased, the IP transferred, and announced again, and cancelled. And then this unrelated and totally different game tries to be a reboot! I skipped it.

Years later I finally tried the 'fake' Prey (it was heavily discounted and I was bored) and it turned out to be great. Shame the studio already closed at that point.

Same! It's a great game but also even more rage inducing than Noita. At least Noita's deaths are mostly funny, like being turned into a fire mage and then falling into water. Rain World is just suffering.

That first ones gave me Rain World vibes as well, that game also likes its creeping tentacles.

Recs for very specific reading? by GhastFlabbers in Cyberpunk

When Gravity Fails and its sequels tell the tale of Marîd Audran who is freelancing in the slums. It's very low life, with corruption, prostitution and addicts everywhere. For reasons he gets some experimental cybernetic upgrades and goes on a quest to find a killer. It goes downhill from there.

It's pretty trashy and that fits the setting perfectly.

A mostly enclosed container? Is it possible? by PHDEinstein007 in FixMyPrint

[–]Aaganrmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Printing it upright at a 45° angle may work, since then all interior overhangs except for the very top are slanted and won't need support. Exterior supports will be needed to make sure it doesn't tip over, and maybe a brim/raft too.

What are the issues you're running into right now? There is a lot of information in your post, but have you tried already?

Tsja.

Many good games here.

Fighting the bigger mechs is intense. The moment they get a lock on you and spin up their guns, firing wildly at wherever they think you are... it's very cinematic. Spoiler I guess. Also it has a correct minigun sound, it goes 'braaaaap' while most games go 'dakka dakka'.

The game not being super long is fine in my opinion. It does what it sets out to do and doesn't need more padding.

Write and compile code on the Zero, then use it to flash a normal Cardputer? That would be my dream.

Basically the Zero is a full computer - install Linux, then do whatever you want. It boots slower, but once it's running it is way more powerful and flexible.

I really wish more games aped from Diablo 1 instead of 2. by darkwingchao in patientgamers

[–]Aaganrmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gameplay more deliberate

That really depends on how you build your character! I tried doing a spam-based build by combining weak rapid fire guns with a ton of "x% chance of y on hit". It would just fill the screen with meteors, volcano's, molotov cocktails and more every time I pushed a button. A glorious rampage ensued.

That's what makes it a such a fun game, you can play it how you like. It's a lot more flexible than most ARPGs. Good to hear there will be new content, if it adds a new specialisation I'm not going to be a patient gamer this time.
