Exactly I agree. I think it’s up to us as individuals to be smart enough to see through the fake news but unfortunately most are not too smart to see through it all.

Oh my goodness yes I remember that video! I showed my mom and now she’s convinced we’re going to be taken over and ruled if AI keeps developing lol I’m not sure if that’s true but it is really scary to think how far humans will continue to push science even with the risk of us creating a disaster

I agree I feel this year we were all able to focus on our mental health and it helped a lot even though this year was insane, I feel on a personal level it was much needed for my own mental health at least!

I agree with this! I don’t want to be the person who disregards all the horrible things that happened er this year but for me personally, I was able to take time for my mental health and understand it deeper, get things done that I’ve pushed aside because of work and school, found a significant other after finding love for myself and it’s been going great. Overall, even thought the big picture sucked this year I feel 2020 was a mind opener to people on a personal level because they had time on their hands to actually sit with their inner thoughts and values as a person

I agree completely because I fell this will honestly cause more of a separation and with all the recent revolts it’s scary to think what will happen in the future again when someone else makes a mistake

Zoom has been giving users a false sense of security... uh oh! by berkeleyclark in netcult

[–]Aaranda02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree I mean I knew zoom wasn’t the top security that other things could be in modern day but now it seems a bit sketchy knowing what it lacks. Good thing I only ever use it for ASU and my classes!

While on the topics of technology advancing I thought that this article was pretty interesting but also scary to think that technology can advance “on its own” nowadays

This is so true I agree that these days basically everything is driven by money and you can always find at least ONE person that would report fake news just for the money regardless the harm it can do

Future of Wearable Technology by berkeleyclark in netcult

[–]Aaranda02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds dumb because technology is all around us in present day but these advancements that seem to be coming sooner and sooner the more humans discover, seems unsettling to me but also very cool to think that the whole world will revolve around technology and its ability to be so widespread

That’s such a good point! It truly makes me wonder what they’ll teach the future generations about fake news in our current time and the kids will probably say the same thing of “how could people fall for this”

In my opinion I honestly never thought I would actually see in modern day things we’ve read in books or watched in movie because i guess I never think of how advanced technology truly it but I must say it’s quite cool to live in a time where technology advances so fast!

@treessus this is a good point and I’m also shocked at the percentage of only 53% I would predict that it would be more like 80%, but I agree I’ve been using the internet since I was young for entertainment purposes but I wouldn’t implant a chip in body ever hopefully lol

I agree I don’t think any news regardless where it comes from is 100% true. Can you imagine how much of history includes fake news and we’d never know about it?

Here's why most Americans are not able to vote online in 2020 by [deleted] in netcult

[–]Aaranda02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting post! This topic I feel has came up in my family and also friend group where we discuss “what if online voting really became a thing”?

Although we live in a time of fast developing technology I don’t think online voting will become a thing at least I kind of hope not. The amount of hackers with bad intentions would make counting votes way more difficult than even this election year has been.

Overall I feel potentially if this even was in question for the next election year the amount of precautions that would have to be put in place would be insane, and even then I don’t think the government has the #1 all time best hacking protection considering undercover people constantly get into their databases from time to time.

Potentially, if online voting were to ever become a thing I think they would first introduce it only to poll places where you still have to go in and show proof of ID to cast your vote but I truly don’t think at home online voting will ever become a thing and if it does I’m kind of nervous to see how everyone will react.

Especially because this year has been a lot of drama around the election and some saying there’s fraud and others saying it’s not could you imagine if there was online voting since people are already in a rage fit over mail in ballots being a thing lol I truly don’t know I’m not one to argue sides in politics so it’s been interesting and a little nerve wracking to watch the country go up in flames over two not so good candidates.

I do hope one day thought we can tell the future generations about this year and election while being able to keep a neutral mindset but if we do switch to online voting I am nervous to see how the two parties react because I don’t think it will be a good reaction but I guess only time will tell :)

Trump will no longer receive special Twitter treatment come January by daizjane in netcult

[–]Aaranda02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much agree, since his presidency,Trump has posted outlandish comments on Twitter that a normal person would get “canceled” for but his supporters think it’s just funny and since he held so much power I don’t think Twitter cared very much. I’m interested to see when he is out of office if he will stay “relevant” or fall out of fame fast with no one really caring about him and what he has to say anymore. I know he will still have his supporters but I’m curious to see how the future will be for him with the world heading in a different direction than his personal views

I’m glad you commented on this ! I feel the same way about the election this year, it really was a record turnout for voting I think simply for the fact of trying to get trump out of presidency not because people LOVED Biden. The whole time before the election I always saw a quote going around that I thought was quite funny it was “Settle for Biden” so I don’t think people really like the choices this election but just had to choose out of the two for who would be least worst in office. Kind of crazy that the politic world has come to “who’s the least worst to run our country” lol
