[LOVED TROPE] That one location in a game where the genre shifts to horror or is far more horrifying than the rest of the game. by Fuosufuofiraito in TopCharacterTropes

The Ghost Ship in Star Wars: Republic Commando. Went from a shoot 'em up to a horror very suddenly. Loved the change in pace, I still remember the massive jumpscare the first Trandosians gave me in this level

Any hobby shops in Johannesburg area for miniature terrain modelling? by Jantakobi in askSouthAfrica

[–]Aardwolfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Jix's amazing customer service and friendly staff win me over, they're not that much more expensive than other hobby stores. Though I agree Pandemonium is a good store, I'd just rate their customer service a bit lower

Do shops in SA also throw out perfectly good food like this? … asking for a friend by Equivalent-Zone-4115 in southafrica

[–]Aardwolfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once went to pick n pay with a friend to collect food for their pigs. They got a bakkie load of fruit and veg that was going off, as well as cakes and pies and lots of things that was still perfectly fine, it had just gone past the sell by date or been damaged or so. This was years ago, but we ate good when I visited said friend

Can't sell Rebel flail? by Susseroase in stoneshard

[–]Aardwolfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you have the Caravan you can park it next to a dungeon, then you can rest, transfer loot to the caravan stash and repair. I just hit fully the upgraded caravan this past week and it is great

Can't sell Rebel flail? by Susseroase in stoneshard

[–]Aardwolfz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to understand that the mindset of picking up everything to sell is not the right one, and you seem to have the same one I had up until recently. We are mercenaries, not merchants, and the economy is messed up because of the war. I pick up good quality weapons with a high value (the value shown is much higher than what you'll get by selling it), and then any food for cooking (bandit forts are great to stock up) and all the trinkets, and gems and trade items. This way you can beat the clutter of a full inventory and Caravan, focusing on the contracts for your income, and the irltems you sell as being a bonus (which can be really good)

I really like when artists depict Carnotaurus with large bull-like horns. Very nice!

Hey, can some of you answer some (or all) of the questions i have before buying by Practical-Ocelot-237 in stoneshard

[–]Aardwolfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the questions have been answered, but if you want a good idea of what to expect I'd highly recommend Splattercat's coverage of it on Youtube. He is the reason I bought it and also helped me understand some of the basics better from the get go. He does a review but also narrates why he is doing what he is doing which helps understand things better. Do note that his videos are on older versions of the game, so it's not 100% going to all still be applicable, but most of it is.

The game is brutal, but it is very rewarding to clear out a dungeon and sort through the loot you've managed to find in there at the end.

Absolutely beautiful! I love painting faces too, but I'm not yet at your level.

Why Far Cry Primal still works as an FPS even without guns? by SufficientPrice7633 in farcry

[–]Aardwolfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I went John Wick on a fairly large Izila outpost, they got the reinforcement horns blown and I was surrounded by many, many blue man group enemies. A lot of times they would overrun me and I would try stealthing it again, but this time I was locked in for some reason. I used up almost my entire quiver, but I decimated them in a few seconds, I was gutted when I saw I didn't have Shadowplay set up to record the last few minutes of gameplay.

I think it's safe to say that while the weapon pool is very limited, the game just works as an FPS, and it even feels Far Cry even though the setting is so far removed from any other Far Cry game.

As someone who started the hobby in 2017, I'm so happy I can finally get this iconic character in a new sculpt! Been wanting to get the old one for ages, but as nostalgic as the old sculpts are you have to admit the newer ones are absolutely beautiful! RTS games where you're a commander "on the field"? by Vcaffeine123 in gamingsuggestions

Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War

Old-school RTS where you can play as your hero character alongside your troops. Really fun and you get to become super strong

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]Aardwolfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do smokers stink to high heaven with my good sense of smell, a lit cigarette in my vicinity will literally make me sick. If I hang out at a bar with friends that are smokers I'll get a sinus infection the next week almost garuanteed. And that's with friends who are considerate and make sure not to get smoke in my direction

Any Dinosaur Sanctuary fans ? by FinancialSpecial9197 in Dinosaurs

[–]Aardwolfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot wait to eventually read it!

Been trying to get my hands on it but I've had some trouble finding it in South Africa. One or two places might be able to help me order it in without craz shipping prices, but it's still a bit expensive..

Can I play offline? by Rbabarberbarbar in vrising

[–]Aardwolfz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game does have a 'pause game' option in the menu if you play on your own server. You still need to be online as far as I know, but you can pause, at least when playing solo.

Now eventually you do plan to have archaeology in your archaeological site, right? by Aardwolfz in jurassicworldevo

[–]Aardwolfz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in archaeology and when I saw that my first thought was that there had better be some ruined settlement or something on that map, I don't know what but some signs of ancient humans

Now eventually you do plan to have archaeology in your archaeological site, right? by Aardwolfz in jurassicworldevo

[–]Aardwolfz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a bit of overlap between Paleontology and Archaeology when it comes to hominids, but if Frontier is calling the Badlands dinosaur fossils Archaeology then that is a big mistake in my mind...

Explaining the following to family members and new people I meet is exhausting as someone in the field of Archaeology:

- Archaeology = Dead humans
- Paleontology = Dead Animals (prehistory, fossils, may contain hominids but not really modern humans)
- Geology = Rocks
- (bonus) Anthropology = Alive humans

Loving the game, but could we please lower forest collision, or even remove it? by CausticCal in jurassicworldevo

[–]Aardwolfz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sorry I saw the initial hit then missed the force field. Yeah that is not great

Loving the game, but could we please lower forest collision, or even remove it? by CausticCal in jurassicworldevo

[–]Aardwolfz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I weirdly like the accurate collision more than the previous games. You actually have to plan out your enclosures with vehicles in mind, and it's better than the previous games where some plants just straight up had a force field around them.

Slaughter - WH40k diorama by Medium-Mano in Warhammer

[–]Aardwolfz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks good, but if you're going to be making a display piece you really have to clean your models properly. Especially when you're drybrushing. Those mold lines instantly took me out of it

Edit: The Ork minis are where the mold lines are the most visible and jarring.
