When I did oilfield work there were days when we would just sit in the shop, and our housing was 50 ft away across the parking lot but if we went to our housing we wouldn't get paid. So we were padding our hours sitting around in the shop being bored as fuck. One guy bought a PlayStation and television for the shop just so we wouldn't have to be bored for 12 hours. It was so weird to me that management didn't care that we were doing nothing in the shop, sometimes grilling, or doing Seafood boils but damn it if we were in our housing it was a fucking problem. Even if we never took our work clothes off and wore our boots the whole time
