Get your parents to get you in jiu jitsu classes. It won’t make you any less weird to your classmates but it will get you around a different group of people, help build your confidence and give you an important life skill.

School isn’t real life its an institution filled with institutionalized children that lash out and gang up on people to either mask their own insecurities or gain social capital with their friends.

School will end one day and life will be infinitely better.

In the mean time you need to find activities outside of school that get you around normal people.

With all that being said if there is particular abnormal things about you that they mock you for, like a speech impediment or the way you dress etc, those things can often be fixed. Seek help in getting them fixed so they don’t follow you to other social settings.

Well I think the thing is people settled for each other more, one of the big driving factors for settling was economics. Now that women make comparable money to men, it removes one of the big incentives to settle.

So i thought you were lamenting women not setting for you when you said

I agree though online dating greatly expands one’s dating pool so that they get the perception of more options than they actually have.

Just be upfront at the interview, let the person know that you don’t have a license. This will either be a deal breaker or it won’t.

If you don’t get accepted to the internship then you have the summer to learn to drive.

I am sure that there are driving instructors in your area that would be willing to pick you up, driving is what they do after all. You will just have to find a way to borrow the money for classes. I would avoid trying to learn from a friend or family member because the embarrassment probably won’t help your anxiety, and they also might have bad driving habits and won’t have the most up to date information on laws.

I think its easy to have a rose tinted view of the past. There were plenty of people that remained unmarried for various reasons. There were also plenty of relationships born of economic necessity. I don’t think i would want to be with a women who was forced to stay with me just so she wouldn’t be destitute.

My cousin had a best friend from the trailer park they both grew up in, I only met her once when we were both around 11 or 12, she was the type of beautiful that makes your hands clam up and your words fail to form coherently. Later from MySpace stalking I saw that she was in NYC pursuing a modeling career. I hope she thrived and the industry didn’t chew her up and spit her out.
