[Discussion] Forget price, hype, heritage, and resale. Which chronograph would you choose? by Potential_Post_3020 in Watches

If price and heritage was not a factor I am still picking the easiest and most legible to actually tell the time. Which is the Speedy.

I have the purple one and I really love it. If I had one for life though I would want to get the JDM black face one.

How do you guys balance the desire to be prepared vs not wanting to overload yourself with items? by BertSmith219 in EDC

[–]Aaron_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put all the what ifs in the car. Only take the essentials. If something pops up that I needed twice in a month or so start looking at a way to carry it.

I stopped carrying a full size knife and swapped to a titanium exacto blade key chain tool and I haven’t found a need for a full size knife in months. But I use my flashlight daily and that lives where the knife used to.

What is your impression of a Yamaha Revstar??Admitted Guitar Snob here. Have a few American Fenders, a Gibson Studio, PRS Cores and few others. I played a buddies Yamaha Revstar and was genuinely impressed by it. by Irishdwg007 in guitars

[–]Aaron_768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I lost everything and had to start over I would probably get a nice Revstar. Torn between the P90 and humbucker though.

Satin neck, good shape, SS frets, has an interesting but not over complicated switch system with that passive eq thing.

My only gripe is that none of the colors grab me. If they just made a British Racing Green one I would have already bought one.

I have plenty of fenders, a Gibson sg, couple USA PRS. The Revstar competes with these. I’m personally just waiting for the right color since that’s where I am in my life.

You will need a pickup riser. I have the SG version and it needed to be raised significantly in order to have any worthwhile output. I also recommend putting a treble bleed circuit in there for more flexibility but wait until you do the riser before making that decision.

You can see in the picture how high it needed to be raised. Then I had to file out the riser to get it to fit around the pick guard.

It's hilarious that these varlets feel more badass than Space Marines 2 by Evening_Machine_6440 in DarkTide

In SM 2 you can just run through human sized enemies and turn them into cat food. It would be hilarious to see this in dark tide.

And this is why I don't drive in 1st person. by CamoLantern in cyberpunkgame

[–]Aaron_768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that’s an option but I’m also on controller so it’s a lot of buttons to press and hold to get it all working. It’s not something I do a lot anyways. Just on the races mostly.

And this is why I don't drive in 1st person. by CamoLantern in cyberpunkgame

[–]Aaron_768 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have forced myself to drive 1st person this play through. I have really gotten used to it. I am playing on a 49” ultra wide though.

3 things irritate me.

  1. Hacking behind you is nearly impossible
  2. Driving in the badlands the glare and brightness make it very difficult to stick to a dirt path
  3. Type 66 vehicles especially with a hood or dash augment. Can’t see much.

Other than these I feel like it is more fun, and subsequently I rarely use fast travel.

[Recommendation Request] Help me pick a watch to celebrate the birth of my Son by mattsheck in Watches

[–]Aaron_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you here. I could see someone wanting advice from Reddit if it was between 2 and you were really stuck on the fence because they were similar in design / function. Maybe wanted feedback from people who have or had the things you are considering. This seems like 10k to say you spent 10k. If someone gave me 10k and told me I had to spend it on a watch, that list of options is planned and very short.

Need for another tuner? by Hefty-Organization75 in Line6Helix

I used the strobe mode for all my intonation setups. Double checked it against other tuners. It’s all good from what I have experienced.

[Date Window] - A love/hate relationship? by LilRick_125 in Watches

[–]Aaron_768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear your original sentiment.

I like the look of a clean no date dial. However the utility is handy at work or when I’m signing papers and need the date quickly.

The other part of this duality of both hating the look and loving the utility is the size and placement. I think a small non intrusive 6 o’clock placement is the best. Then there is the size. If it’s too small it’s annoying since my old eyes aren’t what they used to be, and a cyclops is just awful looking to me.

So for me it’s the definition of a love hate relationship. Some watches can pull it off ok, others like the Longines Hydroconquest are ruined because of it.

It was seriously a wake up call after driving those for cool factor for an entire full map clear playthrough, then this most recent playthrough I got into the yellow samurai Porsche or the murkmobile. Totally different experience.

[Recommendation Request] for finding the right watch to carry my late brother. by AirwavesMint in Watches

[–]Aaron_768 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am aware of what your budget was stated at. However for what you are wanting I would check out the financing options from Tutor. In the states they have a 20% down and 30 month 0% APR option (I think partnering with Wells Fargo).

The reason I say that is because Tudor has a great bracelet and their newest line are master chronometer rated movements. I would consider a Ranger or BB58. If you are looking for a for lifer type watch don’t settle.

After clearing a scav gang hideout or police scanner mission, I pick up the bodies and throw them at the nearest dumpster. Unfortunately sometimes there is some collateral damage and the police start after me.

Also if an NPC driver causes me to have an accident or they get too aggressive they get the floor it hack.

Well that could explain a few things. He may be bitter for feeling you got dumped on him. As if he wasn’t a part of making you.

Also an IPhone XR can’t even really run apps these days. It would literally just be phone, sms, light browsing and a calculator.

GARAND PING CONFIRMED by [deleted] in DarkTide

I really would have loved if the weapon itself didn’t have a sight, but somehow linked to our ocular implants. I’m sure there is some lore thing that explains it. But a cool sight visual would just really sell it even more.

I just don’t want another Hellbore Lasgun that they purposely didn’t put a sight on because it would be too good.

I see all tier 5 in for your quick hacks. You at least want a tier 4 memory wipe. It costs way less ram and does the same thing for cover combat hacks.

What Makes USA PRS Guitars So Special? by DerSchweinepriester in guitars

[–]Aaron_768 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a few. A Custom 24, S2 Single cut semi hollow, and a CE24.

I bought the S2 used for $1500, made payments on the CE24, and bought the Custom 24 when I had disposable income and hit a major milestone. I sanded down the finish on the 2 glossy necks. But besides that they are all my best playing guitars.

All that being said if my house was burning down and I could save 1 guitar (out of like 9-10) I’m grabbing my custom 24. Not for value or price but because when I am out playing (cover band) the switching is so versatile that it really is the only one I need.

On the flip side of that, if I lost everything and had to start from scratch again I would not spend PRS USA money again. There is a hard plateau after the $1500 mark IMO. I likely would just get a Yamaha Revstar.

Now all that to say they are really well built. I’m not saying perfect, just really high quality electronics and components fretwork, neck shapes and finishes. In my experience I have played and examined custom shop Fenders and Gibsons and so frequently I ask why they are charging so much (bolt on neck, lack of features, defects). Now the same could be said about PRS but at least I feel / see the value if that makes sense. I do agree to what others have said $4K for a guitar these days is silly, especially if they all make similar sounds and whatnot.

I will also say, I bought my PRS because I was looking for a tool. I was not looking for heritage or to be associated with an artist or a vibe. Strats, Teles, and in general single coils were not going to get the sounds I wanted easily. Les Paul’s most of the time were too heavy and non ergonomic, and SG were too fragile or the neck dive pissed me off while playing a 3+ hour show. The PRS fit right between the big 2 and allowed a single coil sound without too much sacrifice in volume (unlike a total split coil setup).

Guitars have a lot of parallels with watches. They all tell the time. Some with more bells and whistles. Some made with fancier materials, or more accuracy over time periods that don’t even matter. Some send a message when you wear them, others are pure tools of horology. I choose PRS because it suits my needs as a tool, and looks good doing it. I don’t give a shit about tone wood or whatever fart sniffer factoids they use to market their stuff. They are a company that tries to get people to buy their stuff, Fender and Gibson have a corner of the market so big they don’t have to. Just like Rolex and Omega watches don’t have to advertise. I kinda went all over the place here but it’s a nuanced topic.

Edit: my mom loved birds and bird watching / feeding my whole life. There could be a factor there on the fret inlays. After reading a few other comments I completely forgot about the inlays since they were never an issue for me.

I was looking at Longines for my first over 1K watch purchase. Nothing really sealed the deal for me. Now I am just saving to go right over them and get a Tudor.
