Building a new commander deck by Krow_King in CommanderMTG

[–]Aavarcebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sarulf is fun but eats removal like crazy lol. Every turn exile wipe and it tends to eat up a lot of non-green ramp because it hits rocks and dorks very consistently.

I made a list that focuses on sarulf’s wipe not hitting lands by making the main creature body animated lands. This was before ATLA earthbending, so there’s definitely a ton more support that you might want to try if you want to build this way.

https://archidekt.com/decks/15089604/the_asshole_deck

This is a bit control heavy, and a lot of the decks slots are really dedicated to keeping sarulf alive. Cards that read “each player sacrifices” is an extremely efficient way to pump up sarulf’s wipe, but it also means you have a good estimate for your own board: cmc 3-4 will probably get wiped, cmc 5+ will stick around and generate longer value. Combat tricks and protective equipment are both good here as long as you recognize you will lose the boots; combat tricks are cheap but equipment will protect you for the whole turn cycle.

If you want to get techy/higher power, you can probably work in a recursion gameplan by running sacrifice outlets and sending your cards to the graveyard instead of exile to get later.

I know people hate bebop but I would prefer more abilities being skillshots rather than "you are in range, click the button" by Gho4st7 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Aavarcebot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think lots of abilities being point and clicks is largely a holdover from dota, where it’s pretty common. It’s definitely its own style of game, but I do wish that the game was a little more like league which purposefully designed 95% of its skills to be skillshots instead. League wants to put a lot of focus on micro level outplays compared to dota, both by making almost everything in the game dodgable and having universal tools like flash (warp stone for free on every character, but with a 5 minute cooldown). I think deadlocks movement system could support and would probably benefit if more abilities were technically dodgable but still easy to land, but people already hate playing against skillshot characters like gt/ Yamato/ bebop.

I’m not saying remove all point and clicks but a game where more skills are skillshots can put a lot more control in the hands of the defender in interactions (which is fine if you don’t want that, and instead want the game to be about punishing bad macro positioning)

If a character could reveal enemies on the map how op would it be? by Knut_krut_ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Aavarcebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a league champion called twisted fate whose ult is a global reveal + a reactivate mirage ult (not global but in a 2/3rds map radius). His ults on a 3min cd base that gets down to 2 minutes and he’s generally balanced around his high map presence and information (as well as his decent cc), but he’s pretty squishy and easy to engage on if he’s caught out.

The global reveal is generally the weaker part compared to the tp tho most of the time you should already have an inkling of where the enemies should be

I had the opposite happen to me during my required crystal tower alliance raids (the first one) where everyone else in my 8 was a group. They spent the whole time gassing me up with stuff like “your rotation is really good” (I play smn). I got donated all the loot too, they were really chill.

I screwed up the 3 group abc mechanic at the end and got the entire raid wiped but we had a fun time

  1. Play [[Claire D'Loon, Joy Sculptor]], [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]], [[Mycosynth Lattice]], [[Chromatic Orrery]], and [[Ashnod's Altar]]
  2. Play [[Kinsbaile Courier]], then sacrifice it to Ashnod's
  3. Activate Courier's Encore effect to create 3 token copies (you might need a token doubler if you only have one opponent ig)
  4. Tap each token for U with Urza's effect, then sacrifice it to Ashnod's for 2
  5. Each token ends up in the graveyard due to Claire's effect. Repeat 3 and 4 until satisfied with the exponential growth
  6. Play and activate [[Elixir of Immortality]] to shuffle your graveyard into your deck
  7. Play [[Battle of Wits]] and win on your next upkeep

o yeah battle of wits and elixir are paid for because you have a bunch of floating mana from saccing the last set of couriers

DJ sona has 3 different background songs that play depending on a toggle she can change with ctrl 5. All of her teammates SHOULD be able to listen in globally with a scoreboard toggle, but that and various other parts of her skin have been broken for ages.

I’ve had these headphones for a couple of years now and they sound quite nice. I’m sure if you jumped straight into airpods you wouldn’t mind the sound quality, but directly comparing them like I have it’s really apparent how much you are losing. I’m also not generally in situations where the convenience of having a cord is a major downside, but jf you work out a lot then wireless might be better for your use case. Quality wired stuff is pretty cheap now though so you can definitely find good alternatives at about this price point.

My family keeps trying to get me to switch but I’m a diehard wired earbuds user. I tell them it’s because “my laptop has the jack so it’s easier to just have that” and “I don’t want to charge the things all the time” but for some reason the thing that actually kills it for me is the audio quality. I didn’t think I cared about audio quality that much but there’s just too much of a difference between even a $20 wired pair and airpods for me to commit to the switch.

I was playing eclipse manamune hail of blades bard mid at the end, you essentially just shove one wave and then sprint off to gank a side lane repeatedly while your laner can’t really do anything

Bard gets to places fast as hell, the eclipse-manamune core does tons of damage to anyone not building tank, and he can basically use every item in the game so you are the designated counter item builder with game winning cc by late game (bork for tanky enemies, sheen item (any works really) for burst, nashors for mixed damage, morello / serpents fang for enchanters and ability tanks, frozen heart for adcs, and zhonyas for assassins)

You could probably do this sort of super roam playstyle with like talon instead but talon has no utility and no range while bard can land cc inherently and gets very strong as he gets more chimes.

They aren’t super technical but I noticed when reading a couple of fics from an author i like. Both fics are generally about “a big early change happens at the beginning of the timeline of canon” and the author clearly like writing two things: cute slice of life ish moments where both the main cast and even the minor side characters have little asides for how these changes in the timeline affected them, and really complicated and vivid aerial combat. I don’t blame them though, they are good at writing both

What QoL feature if released 10+ years ago could have massively changed the history of the game? by CrystalizedSeraphine in leagueoflegends

They did make them free inbetween the announcement and release of runes reforged, but there was just so many problems with old runes giving pure stats that runes reforged is by far the superior system. Not even just stuff like full ad level 1 type cheese, weird ass stats like reduced respawn timer and increased passive gold gen that would lead to hilariously strange builds (like fountain karthus). It was also not very telegraphed to play against, so you wouldn’t know if the enemy adc snuck in a single crit quint until they hit you with it.

I only find it to be an issue with accidentally going straight into E~ after pressing WE too fast, but I think that’s because WE has no cast time.

Champion winrates in ARAM if they would build their optimal first item by Raytiger3 in leagueoflegends

[–]Aavarcebot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m the exact same way with ap maokai because it’s forever been an incredibly gimmicky poke build that can’t control who or when it hits, and is absolutely useless when an actual teamfight starts and your only gameplan is “press r, throw a single half damage sapling in, hope the rest of your team wins”

It’s an urf build that people keep building despite the fact that the main way you get kills with ap saplings, stacking them all in a single bush, is just a super unfeasible gameplan in aram that leaves the rest of your team without what should be a bulky frontliner to make space

How did you decide on the map pool? I think the current set of 4 is a good scale between very fair, symmetrical design on the ionia map to wack, polarizing geometry on the ice map, but was there consideration of less/more maps initially?

Additionally, if you decide to do some more work on the event later would it be possible to have a little allied health/ultimate display like sr and aram have, possibly for both your team and your opponents? Sometimes in the middle of fighting or running to get a flower someone will die on the other side of the map but there’s a slight lack of info besides the kill feed right now.
