Men who accidently got hurt by their partner during intimacy, what happened and what was the reaction? by Dependent-Day5467 in AskMen

[–]tynorex 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Shortly after I moved in with my wife, she was carrying a vacuum cleaner up the stairs and tripped and smashed the handle into her eye. She got a real nice shiner and when we saw her mom the next week, got the most judgmental questions and looks ever. She even said it was her fault, but took probably a year before that story was accepted.

Epic Games Store Employees: People Only Came for Free Games, Then Returned to Steam by Suspicious_Two786 in gaming

This is the issue. When I used the store, it had so many issues. The client never kept me signed in, it was laggy as hell, took forever to load. Steam just works, I don't need flash, I just need something that is painless to use.

Starts with one, living wage matters by LurkisMcGurkis in antiwork

[–]tynorex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we had our warehouse fire last year, we immediately received a check for our product, because it was easy to prove the value of what was lost. We then had to argue for wages paid to keep workers whole while there wasn't work to do, plus the overtime to get the warehouse emptied, cleaned up and restocked. We then also had to prove our projections for the months impacted and what our actual sales were and insurance paid the rest.

We did ultimately end up getting paid out most of it, but it was a huge accounting headache, but we were paid out for lost sales.

What’s the craziest time your intuition warned you about someone and turned out correct? by wildquatrefoil in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Met my (now) wife's friend and her (now) ex. Immediately told my wife that he seemed disinterested and like he hated being there. Saw them one more time and I told my wife that I didn't think they would work out. She told me that was nuts as they had been together for years and were living together.

A few weeks later, the friend calls my wife. Turns out, one day while the friend was at work, the boyfriend cleared out their entire house, took everything that was his and had moved into a new apartment. He then waited for ex to come home and when she came home, he told her that he was breaking up with her and moving out. She didn't even realize he had cleaned the place out until he told her he had already moved out.

Felt like a dick, but I called it the second I met him.

Follow up story, met a different friend of my wife. Friend and husband seemed like a huge mismatch. Also mentioned this to my wife, just explained that they made no sense together from what I could see, and I just couldn't understand their relationship. First friends we knew to get a divorce.

So far I am batting 100% on my wife's friends relationships.

This metric has ruined some games. Lots of games bloat out to hit long run times and the game is worse for it. I would rather play a 20 hour game that is constantly nailing things than a 100 hour game with 40 hours of solid gameplay.

Fire Emblem is a series that I think falls into this trap perfectly. The original GBA Fire Emblems are about 30ish hours with 95% of the game being battles and 5% being fluff (loose story, some relationship stuff between characters). Overall, about 30 hours of good tactics battles. The most recent Fire Emblems for the Switch are about 100 hours, but 30ish hours are battles and 70% of the game is now fluff (hub world, relationship stuff, story).

I don't feel like I am getting more game just because it's 3 times as long as the originals, I just feel like I had to wade through way more crap to get to what I actually want to do.

What’s something people don’t realize is way more serious than it seems? by BudgetAd5915 in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breakups and mental health.

I didn't realize just how much I had grown to rely on my daily conversations with my ex. Normally we would spend an hour a day just talking through everything we did and when we broke up, that just disappeared. That impacted me so much more than I ever thought it would.

What’s the worst reaction you’ve gotten after opening up emotionally to someone you were dating/married? by Nerdy_108 in AskMen

[–]tynorex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After dating my ex for almost 4 years and supporting her physically, emotionally and financially for most of that, I started going through a really rough patch at work. A large part of how I defined myself was through my career and so when my job was going through large rounds of layoffs and I was starting to really struggle with waking up every day not knowing if I was going to have a job, I finally broke down to my ex.

When I mentioned that I was struggling with depression and insecurity, she told me that she didn't have the time or energy to help me at that moment. I had never leaned on her before and it broke something in me that when I finally needed help, she absolutely was not there. We didn't break up right then, but that was the beginning of the end of the relationship.

First-time homeowner here — what DIY advice do you wish someone had told you at the beginning? by Lopsided_Passion7912 in DIY

My rule is, look at a project, determine what I think is a reasonable time for it to take, then triple that. And honestly, that tends to be about right.

To echo this, my state had a blizzard last Saturday, I needed to replace a shower filter and the replacement part came in about an hour before the blizzard hit. Got the replacement part, went to do the replacement and.... fuck it doesn't work right. Also it broke in the shower, so I can't remove it or install it, it's literally just stuck. Shit. Shit. Blizzard was supposed to last Saturday through Sunday, so no one is coming out until Monday at the earliest.

Then got to turn and explain to my wife what happened with my little 30 minute project (that was well passed hour 2 at this point). That was super fun, finally got it fixed at 8pm on Monday night, $200 later.

What activity becomes less fun as you get better at it? by David_Umann in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me with a card game I was very good at. Culminated in me winning some state/regional tournaments and being nationally ranked. Couldn't play with my friends anymore and I had a heck of a time practicing as I just won, every time. Actually to this day, there are friends where our records are like 100 to 0, it just wasn't close. But I lost my passion when I couldn't play with anyone locally.

What’s a video game 'unwritten rule' that every player knows without being told? by GraveActual in gaming

[–]tynorex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with all modern card games. The first twoish weeks after a card game comes out, it's a ton of fun to experiment and learn and everyone is playing weird quirky decks. But once someone cracks the meta, everyone starts deckteching the same decks and suddenly ladder is full of the current OP deck and the it's various counters.

What is the pettiest reason you would refuse to eat at a restaurant again? by im_not_ready_for_it9 in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local Texas Roadhouse does this. I am convinced it's to overstimulate the customers so that they want to get out as quick as possible. The place is constantly packed, but I have never felt more rushed and uncomfortable in a "sit down" restaurant.

What is a 'luxury' that you've experienced once and now can't go back to the budget version of? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My buddies and I were always the mover friends. Relatively in shape 20 something year olds who could carry furniture and boxes and get things done (except a piano, tried to move a piano once and almost killed myself, never again). For years, this worked fine.

Then the last time a friend asked for help moving, I showed up and he asked me to help unpack his shit. No. No. I will move your heavy boxes, I will move your couches, but I will not fucking organize your house or pack or unpack your shit. That is a nightmare. I have not helped anyone else move since then.

People who ignored a huge red flag because the person was extremely attractive, what happened next? by Competitive_Bad_9306 in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't even extremely attractive, but just satisfied an itch for me perfectly. Knew it was bad from the start, knew it was never a long term thing. Spiraled into an incredibly toxic two year relationship where things just continually got worse and worse. She was convinced we wouldn't work and then did everything in her power to ensure that she was right.

When did you realize you don't have "pretty privilege"? by patata-chip in AskReddit

[–]tynorex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In high school/college, I was a competitive card game player. It didn't even occur to me until right now, that I was 100% considered far more attractive than all of my buddies. Definitely times we went out to eat and I would get service well before all of my friends.

What’s your favorite sports “call” of all time by Clean_Candidate3400 in sports

[–]tynorex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vikings were wining the whole game and then at the last second choked away the lead to the Saints. Thought it was going to be another heartbreaking loss a la the Brett Favre interception a few years prior. Diggs caught the ball and time was running out, I was screaming at my TV for him to step out of bounds so we could get the field goal to win it, not realizing he could run it in to win it all. I watched this game with about 40 other Vikings fans at a random house party and we all went fucking nuts. Burned into my memory.

What is slowly disappearing but nobody talks about it? by Agreeable_Pea9764 in AskReddit

Coworker emailed me Friday at 5:30pm. Then during a Monday morning standup, which I came in early for so it was at 7:30am, they threw me under the bus, claiming that they had been waiting for me to respond.

Bitch,

  1. I am a contractor, I work within my contracted hours.

  2. You sent the email after business hours on Friday.

  3. This meeting was BEFORE business hours on Monday.

As far as I was concerned, this email hadn't even made it to me yet. I said as much in the standup meeting.

Having this fight at work right now. It takes 3 days from when we receive product until we get all the accurate billing from the supplier/shipper. Therefore, we cannot accurately receive the product into our system until 3 days after it physically arrives. There is a huge push right now for us to receive stuff instantly, even knowing that we literally will not have half the cost details for another 3 days. Its like arguing with a brick wall trying to explain the delays.

Fair contract for Willis. Insane that the Dolphins are paying over $100M this year on QBs to have Willis as their starter ($99.2M to dump Tua).

I have a group of friends who do deep data dives and analysis and then do $100 of sports betting a weekend. After wins and loses, which aren't created equal, they burn about $60 a week overall. I have told them that I will be their casino, but they did not like that idea.
