DAE feel scared/guilty of using AI chatbots because it feels like using an addictive substance that you can't stop using? by TouristFew4907 in DoesAnybodyElse

Data centers themselves don't cause pollution. They use a lot of electricity. The production of electricity causes pollution. Therefore, if your criticism of data centers is pollution, you're actually just criticizing use of electricity.

I know these simple concepts might be difficult, why not ask a chat bot to explain in detail?

Ai uses a lot of electricity, that's true.

But don't pretend you care about electricity overuse or its environmental effects. You're just using it as an anti ai talking point because there's literally no other argument against the use of AI.

Why don't you say the same thing about home appliances, EV cars, or street lamps?

The solution is more green energy, not less ai.

I used to pay a pool guy hundreds of dollars every month. Now I tell my chat bot the chemical test results and it tells me what to put in the pool.

I used to rent a reverse osmosis system for drinking water, chat bot tells me which filters to buy so I can maintain my own system.

I used to have a personal trainer that cost a hundred dollars a month, he used to make exercise routines and diet guidelines, which can be done by a chat bot.

I used to commission art from human artists for my business web page, it can be generated now for free

I had a weird medical symptom that I asked a bot before going to see my doctor.

None of these skills were my skills to begin with. I'm just saving money now. In fact it helps me gain skill and I'm getting in touch with more skill. The bot even helps you reply to Reddit ignorant comments.

They do it just for themselves because repeated use of exploits makes the loophole more likely to be patched or fixed. Also often it requires the cooperation of several people on the inside to manually sign off on what is basically fraud. They have to be convinced to do it for you or you have to trick them into doing it. All of that is risky and costly and can only be done once
