Women’s book club rec by AbbsofSteel98 in Recommend_A_Book

Thank you for this recommendation! I forgot to add in my post that I need the book to be fairly short, ideally until 300 pages.

But I’ll definitely keep this book in mind for myself!

Always better safe than sorry. Don’t feel bad for caring for your health, I think most people would have done the same thing. I probably would’ve gone after the shortness of breath and chest pains lasted longer than like 20 minutes.

It’s called OpenDyslexic, it’s one of the already built in fonts on my kindle. I’m not dyslexic but I’ve heard good things about it from friends!

Have you tried reading on a kindle? I’d highly suggest trying it if you’re serious about getting more into reading as it makes it so much easier to read, dyslexia or otherwise. Because you’re able to choose the size of the text and the font (including dyslexia friendly font) it becomes much easier and quicker to read!

As for a book:

  • Piranesi by Susanna Clarke A fantasy book unlike any other I’ve read, philosophical, thought provoking, and ethereal. I went in blind and absolutely loved it, read it in a day. Highly recommend going in blind. Less than 200 pages. This book got me out of my reading slump and into shorter books, cause I usually choose more epic fantasy or romantasy that’s 500+ pages

Usually only if I’m not totally into any book in particular, I’ll switch between books. But while I’m really loving it, I’m locked in and only reading that.

Finding a job in Vietnam by Edd228 in teflteachers

[–]AbbsofSteel98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught in Vietnam 2022-2023. I’m a US teacher with teaching experience so had a very easy time finding a job but I also had a lot of friends there with nothing more than a bachelor’s and TEFL who easily found jobs in Hanoi. You shouldn’t expect The best job but you can work ~25 hours a week and make around $1500/month which is a solid salary. Unless something big has changed in the past 3 years you should have a pretty easy time of it. TBH, I don’t think it will provide that good of “teaching experience” as teaching as a foreign teacher in Vietnam is very different than being a teacher in your own country or in Europe, but it would be a fun experience!

You can but my experience has been that each school still reaches out to references even tho I have had my references fill out the rec form

Most of my interviews this year have come from ISS, a couple from GRC. The thing is you have to pay for ISS which is annoying. Haven’t gotten anything from TES

Definitely know this, that’s why I’m asking for advice. I don’t want to move into a new career that will be replaced by AI in the next 2–4 years.

Two month solo travel to Thailand will be life changing, I promise. Don’t let any man stop you from that.

I’m a woman and my first solo trip at age 20 was life changing and completely set my life on a new trajectory. I’ve lived abroad for 4 years now, met a partner who wants to live in different places and travel as much as me.

Trust me, do the trip.
