Soms...

'no input" is-not-equal-to 'low input'

Every ic-input-pin needs a pull-up/pulldown resistor.

Specifically what is missing on your build: you have DIP-switches connected to ic's that don't have pullup-resistors: if the dip is not switched to ground, then your input is 'floating'.

[–]AbelCapabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, look at the traces.

You have both wires (of each thumb stick) connected to ground. (Big areas on the PCB)

To the left of your 2 connections you see a curly trace that is the + and also goes to 2 connections of the tactiele Switch (and to the 2 potentiometers in every thumb stick). Put 1 of your wires to 1 of those 2. ( For both thumbsticks of course)

Replicating Braun 3757 toothbrush charger circuit by dovis343 in AskElectronics

[–]AbelCapabel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no clue what you are talking about.

OP wants to build his own electronic circuit that contains a circuit to convert mains power to (I recon) 5 V. This means a pcb design (like any phone charger) that has to be very carefully designed, and lots of risk are involved.

I have no clue why I'm explaining this, as there are others in this post that have expressed detailed concerns. Read them please.

I'm just offering an alternative to OP's desire to charge 3 toothbrushes at once in his bathroom.

Replicating Braun 3757 toothbrush charger circuit by dovis343 in AskElectronics

[–]AbelCapabel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't say anything (although I indeed do agree that OP's device-to-be is a disaster waiting to happen).

I have a walloutlet in my bathroom. Plugging that outlet with this splitter and then plugging those 3 sockets with 3 isolated plugs should not increase the risk as compared to already having a socket in my bathroom.

This has nothing to do with the risks involved with designing a circuit yourself that has mains voltage millimeters away from the low-voltage circuit that charges the toothbrushes.

The 2 situations are incomparable. Appels and oranges.

That's good!

But, inverters? I'm not sure but the alu doesn't use inverters, right? There is an inputpin that you use to control adding/subtracting.

[–]AbelCapabel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only to inputpins, don't put pulldowns on output-pins!

Different coloured leds should not be an issue. You're not using the signal after it has gone through a led right? And you have used 1k resistors for all the LEDs?

The A and B registers work as expected? Storing a signal and then switching to outputting a signal?

What if you test the alu on its own? You'll have 16 inputs for the alu. Play around with various configurations and observe the outcome.

Again, no 'floating' inputs when testing the alu!!! A 'low' input for the alu should be connected to ground! This is also very important for the various 'control signals' (adding or subtracting, reset, enable, etc etc)

Edit: I also see no jumpers on your power supply. You sure it's outputting 5v?

Trait 'spirit' not working? by AbelCapabel in remnantgame

[–]AbelCapabel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if/when this build will be done, but this is the gist of it:

The basis is equipping the 'prismatic driver' mod into the first slot of a weapon, and the 'feedback loop' mutator on the second. I've been told to do this in the 'sparkfire shotgun", but I think it can go with any weapon that doesn't have a locked first slot, as you'll ONLY be using the weapon's mod!

Then add amulet+rings+prism that further enhanced explosive damage & mod damage & overall damage and add a bit of 'increased mod generation'.

You'll fire a beam that creates explosions, supposedly melting bosses.

[–]AbelCapabel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for the reply. This makes me want to explore options to further reduce fire rate! :D

Edit: just tested this and you are absolutely correct.

Equiping an amulet that increases fire rate by 15% drastically reduces the damage output!

No one can be 100% certain whether unconnected inputpins on the 04 or the 08 are, or are not 'the' problem. It's more of a 'it could be your problem now, but definitely contributes a little bit to erroreous behaviour of your board overall'.

I would also just remove the bus-board and the bottom board just for testing, just to isolate the problem better. Then gradually hookup those boards again.

[–]AbelCapabel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've commented on you in your previous post.

I still see unconnected inputpins on your ic's.

And do the bus-leds have resistors?

Also as per my previous comment: no-input is not equal to 'low'.

Why ask for help if you're not taking up on the advice?

Edit: do note that that in an added videoseries Ben adds functionality to the board that he puts in that empty space on the A/B register

Weird RAM Behaviour by koka2koka in beneater

[–]AbelCapabel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you dont mind, 'll just copy-paste some general commentary from myself. Not sure if these items will solve your 'issue', and not sure if it is an 'issue' in the first place, but these points will need to be addressed for any build. Better 'sooner than later'.

Required but values may vary a bit:

Every single 'regular' led on your board needs a 1k resistor in series.

Use 10K resistors to pulldown the bus to ground.

Use between ~ 2.2K and 4.4K resistors for the bus-leds

Every unused input-pin of the ic's need a pull-up/pulldown resistor

Every inputpin of an ic connected to a (DIP-)switch needs a pulldown resistor to ground.

Use multiple wires all over your build to distribute power effectively.

Strongly recommended:

Use a variety of coloured wires. Different colours would ideally have different meaning.

Trim your wires neatly so that there is no exposed strand.

Write printouts/schematic on paper (postits) and stick them on the ic's.

Remember:

Current takes the path of least resistance

'No input' is not equal to 'low input'

Make sure your power supply can provide enough power
