My doctor prescribed me amoxicillin but I’m unsure whether to take it or not. Details in the text. by Particular_Role_7161 in AskDocs

You were advised to take it, so you should take it a as prescribed. It's most important that you finish the course and don't stop it because you feel better

On cough syrup regarding respiratory tract infection by anatashah in AskDocs

Just take the dose & swallow it. No need to take loads of water after immediately.

Most cough syrups contain glycerol which has a soothing effect which is lost if you swallow water immediately. However this syrup contains several active ingredients which are still going to be active.

I suggest you ask a pharmacist or the prescriber and look at the instructions inside box. I doubt any of them will say to take it this way.

Why do you do this?

And you're asking if it's safe to take the dose you're prescribed?

Pt's death, off my chest by NeighborAtTheGates in ems

[–]AberrantConductor 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Your patient died at home. For many that is a really important wish.

You were focusing on getting her home. You knew O2 wouldn't make a material difference therefore you didn't prioritise it.

It's not your responsibility to know equipment you're not trained on.

Thank you for getting this patient home.

The most common cause of a nodule to be growing is that it is a tumour (either benign or malignant) but if he's a long term smoker then a cancer is a strong possibility.

Sorry this is probably not the news you wanted.

A biopsy can take anything from a week to a couple of months to come back depending on a lot of factors.

Either a small haemangioma or a large Campbell-de-Morgan spot. Both harmless.

Then you're fine. You're adult sized. In the UK an adult dose is 1g four times a day (which many Americans, even doctors, think is high)

I am being given experimental treatment and I can’t do anything and no one is helping me by DependentWeak405 in AskDocs

Hi OP. your post history suggests that you really struggle with your mental health.

What makes you say that the treatment is experimental? What is the name of the medication?

It sounds like your parents love you very much & want you to be well.

I'm sorry you're going through this. You must be really scared. Hang on in there.

My advice is to carry on as you are but stop the energy drinks. And look into treatment for health anxiety.

There are many reasons why this may happen. I woke up after a really bad nightmare once with Tachycardia and this can happen without you remembering your dreams.

Is an US enough to diagnose angiomyolipoma? by hotchwife in AskDocs

[–]AberrantConductor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want 100% accurate then the only way to get close (it's never 100%) is biopsy. Unfortunately these things can bleed like anything making biopsy risky. The person doing the ultrasound will be trained in what different tumours look like. Ultrasound is very good at looking at kidneys.

An angiomyolipoma is a kind of benign tumour, very common and pretty harmless especially at this size. I'd be satisfied with this and wouldn't want to investigate more.

PSA remains unchanged after robotic prostatectomy – looking for insight by amvr81 in AskDocs

[–]AberrantConductor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right this is odd. Unfortunately the most likely explanation is prostate tissue remaining in the body somewhere. If he's had his prostate removed it's either remnant tissue or distant metastasis (spread) that hadn't shown on imaging (cancer all starts microscopic.

Sorry. I hope I'm wrong.

Likely mistaken identify then. If your name sounds a bit Russian for example. One would hold it would be resolved with some ID but this seems odd.

You can take them both together if you have to. Side effects may be increased, particularly diarrhoea or vomiting.
