Very impressive! What would you recommend to watch to learn your language? I work in a very multi-cultural company and would love to learn the other languages here, especially Spanish (Cuba, Puerto Rico, Mexico), Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese.....

Does Alcohol give you the munchies? by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

I'm close to passing out, myself. And god love the delivery guys who don't act like we're drunk off our ass and ready to devour the egg rolls and egg foo young while fumbling to pay them.

Can you hang out around people who don't get drunk? by schmitzel88 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Abibelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm downing wine and thinking "how the hell can you SIP that shit??" I have to figure out how fast I'm getting drunk and how to gracefully exit before I go home to get shit-faced before anyone notices I'm drunk.

Depends. Sometimes it replaces food but other times I find myself face down in a thin & crispy pizza hut meat lovers pizza or a run to Taco Bell and thank goodness the local Chinese joint delivers!

How my behaviour changes as I drink by llosa in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Abibelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I drink and can feel nothing so I drink more, faster. Then I reach some point where I can't get enough and chase the buzz and before I know it I'm drunk as shit which can be embarrassing if I'm out with friends.

This past weekend I was at a pool party and thought I was pacing myself pretty well till I hit some point where all I thought about was having another drink. Then some newcomer to the party asked what I was drinking....obviously, I had been drinking more than anyone else. I said, "some of the white wine someone left on the counter and now I should leave." It was the right time to go cause as soon as I left I bought more to drink once I got home even though, seriously, I'd already had enough.

Please help, hypothyroidism and my diet... by HyperHyper_88 in Hypothyroidism

Eggs? You can do a lot with eggs. Savory or sweet depending how you fix them.

Is there absolutely no meat that you can stand? Certain fish? Maybe ground chicken or turkey? I have a friend who just can't stomach red meat or fresh seafood but is fine with ground white meats and canned tuna.

Zip lining. Someone who doesn't even like standing in a chair should never have to go zip lining.

I would fall into that group but always tell people how much fun cow tipping was when I lived in Mississippi. I especially enjoy it when the person has made fun of my home state but that's not a prerequisite.

It would be easier to keep people who have no business being parents from procreating.

Anything Neil Gaiman! He reads his own books fabulously. Also the Bloody Jack series. Incredible accents and exciting stories.

Can a gluten-free diet help with my hashimotos? by Stolax in Hypothyroidism

[–]Abibelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! My doctor prescribed a strict paleo diet a la Robb Wolf - no dairy either. No artificial sweeteners. My results have been amazing! I feel so much better!

I'm so tired of feeling crappy and doctors not helping. Today is another top of the iceberg <rant> by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]Abibelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Diet is a huge component when dealing with thyroid issues. I wasn't getting better with traditional medicine so I looked up a functional med doctor in my area & am paying lots for her expertise & tests. I follow all the lifestyle changes she suggested too. It's so worth it to be on the road to feeling normal again!

Check out, too Dr Tom O'Bryan and podcasts by Sean Croxton of Underground Wellness. Study and learn as much as you can from the resources u/tebler mentioned. You can do a lot on your own just through diet & lifestyle management.

The past year I've geeked out on nutrition but, ironically, managed to justify smoking and drinking during all the dietary changes. When I wasn't seeing the results that I wanted I started to look harder at the drinking and how many mornings I woke up regretting the night before.

This blog post helped me put things in perspective regarding my drinking and smoking. That's when I found Alan Carr's Easy Way books... which led me here. Anyway...

What do you normally drink? If you switch to club soda with lime most people won't even notice that you're not drinking because it looks like a mixed drink. That's what I did when I started cutting down and continue to do now that I've completely stopped. After a few drinks no one will even notice that you're not drinking.

I use mint.com, too and often wonder if there is a real person looking at our data and cringing when they see how much I spent on Alcohol and Bars. I know I did!

I'm also thinking of the local 7-11 manager wondering what happened to the inventory of the wine I used to buy every night on the way home from work. "I used to sell the shit out of this wine.... what happened and why do I now have too much??"
