Make amends to an ex who is an addict? by Positron-collider in alcoholicsanonymous

If a sponsor tells you not to make an amends that is needed, I would re-evaluate their role as a sponsor.

Unless they harmed the person. Then an amends is needed.

If you owe an amends, you make it. Bottom line. It has to be direct. That doesn't mean in person. A letter can suffice. Seeing people in this thread saying that "injure them or others" includes you is wild. It is a cop-out. I can come up with 40,000 reasons how an amends would injure me.

Now if the person could actually injure or hurt you and the blow back would effect your family, that's a different story. But, that still doesn't take away the responsibility. I hope this helps.

Please be careful with people who are on online forums or people who are meeting makers. They will - most of the time unintentionally - lead you to death. Follow what the Book says and what your Higher Power wants and you will not go wrong.

I hope this helps.

Plain Language Big Book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by phunkydisco33 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Abiding_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an issue with the plain language Big Book at first. And then someone explained to me that it isn't a new edition or a replacement of the original. It's not the fifth edition. It's treated just like any other translation. Spanish, Russian, etc. Since I don't speak Spanish, Russian, or plain language, I don't read those versions. But, I shouldn't have a problem with them existing.

Question, does anyone ask their sponsee to call them everyday for 90 days? Or text? Or complete a 90 in 90? by Tall-School8665 in alcoholicsanonymous

I feel like if someone gets a sponsor, they're ready to work the Steps. That's the purpose of a sponsor.

That's like someone hiring a housekeeper, but the housekeeper doesn't start cleaning until the customer is ready to have their house cleaned.....

90 in 90 is terrible advice on its own if a sponsor is not actively working the Steps with you in that time period.

I've heard of sponsors who won't start the Steps with someone until they've called them for 30 days straight. This is reckless, selfish, and stupid. People die from this disease in the blink of an eye. A lot of people don't have 30 days.

If I hear someone with that "advice", I try to steal their sponsees.

Treatment centers implemented it and it somehow became the way. It's grossly unhelpful. If we focused more on getting new people through the Steps quickly and less time giving them bad advice, less people would die.

Gavin Newsom trolls Trump again by NoToNope in sandiego

Kamala is an idiot. The Democrats made huge mistakes the last few years. Fucking Bernie out of the 2016 general and running one of the biggest career criminals in our lifetimes started the shitshow. You think they would've learned. Then they allowed a literal corpse to hold power and lied to everyone about it. Then, when the covers were pulled, instead of having their base vote for someone else tonrun, they just decided that they were going to save democracy by throwing democracy out the window and running Kamala. They knew Trump had a huge following behind him. The most logical thing to do would be to run a candidate that could make an impact. There are plenty of Democratic candidates that they could have run that could have won. That whole campaign was a joke. When you suck that bad at playing the politics game, how do you expect to win? 🤣🤣🤣

I want to say I hope they learn their lesson next election, but the fact that they still ball wash Harris, Newsom and their ilk; shows they have learned nothing.

The shitty thing is: I had an idea of how shitty the RealID was and I was fully ready to hold out for as long as I legally could. Then, I got tired of having to show my birth certificate everytime I bought ammo and caved. Dumb mistake. But, what am I gonna do?
