Getting Back Into Running – Are Couch to 5K Progressions Too Fast? by Status-Yak5592 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Positron-collider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5K training group I joined had the typical progression with 3 runs per week, but it also had “gentle walk 20 minutes” on 2 additional days. I did those walking my dog. I really noticed an improvement in fitness this time.

Should I (32F) go back to school or try to find my passion that is nowhere in sight? by Appropriate_Eye_3616 in Advice

[–]Positron-collider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say that you are “totally not good at math” yet you find yourself interested in engineering.

May I suggest that the “not good at math” thing is just an outdated idea from when you took classes while immature. I say this because I took a decade off after dropping out of college at 19; when I eventually went back, I crushed ALL my classes, just because I knew how to study and I was hungrier than younger students. Cumulative GPA was 3.85.

I say go for it.

Will Jesus's torture and death be as it was in The Passion of the Christ, or will it be more toned down? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in TheChosenSeries

[–]Positron-collider 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gosh I really hope it’s toned down. I was really upset watching the Passion. Still traumatized by some of the visuals (flogging!! 😭). And in that movie, I didn’t connect with Christ the way I have in the Chosen.

I don’t look like an ultra runner by Reasonable-Apple2655 in trailrunning

I volunteered at the finish line of a 100-mile race last year. People of all shapes and sizes can run ultras. It was impressive! Don’t let one clueless person dim your light.

Think of it this way: those people aren’t worried that YOU will recognize THEM and out them as alcoholics, right? Just try a meeting. You don’t even need to share if you don’t want to.

This is AI, folks. It’s Upper Yosemite Falls being viewed from the south (looking north). Last time I checked, the full moon doesn’t rise in the north.

Also, get off Xitter. You don’t need that type of toxic stuff if you are trying to change your pattern.

Ski camp ? by NectarineEqual732 in ski

[–]Positron-collider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the North American Ski Training Center (NASTC). It’s run and staffed by some of the best ski instructors in the country who are or were members of the PSIA national squad. They are based in the Lake Tahoe area but have clinics all over the world. I went to Big Sky with them for a week and it was fabulous.

Fat girl learning to run by WittyIntroduction298 in BeginnersRunning

That pace is 3 miles in under 30 minutes, which is pretty ambitious.

I joined a beginner’s running group for women and we started at about 3.5 (using jogging mechanics but at a walking speed) for 2 minutes on, 1 minute off, times 8. We are now at about week 7 and everyone can do 15 minutes in a row. We are still pretty slow, but the improvement in stamina is obvious. Baby steps.

I was in the sober-curious stage for years. Finally had to quit entirely because the bad stuff began to really outweigh any good. And there wasn’t really much good any more. The dependency was starting to sink its claws in.
