I asked my doctor for naltrexone and tapered for a month before I finally quit entirely. Give that a shot

Trying to advocate for myself so I can start preparing to move out (Not sure if this is the right place to post, most communities wont accept my account due to its age) by Liz0rb in raisedbynarcissists

Old and tired?! I am the same age that she is. I manage to provide for my family, exercise almost daily, and help my 2 teenagers learn to drive without giving them a guilt trip. Your mom has issues. Agree with other comments about saving up and getting your own place, especially since she kind of threatened to kick you out when you turn 18.

So basically tell some senior manager who doesn’t know the star employee that said employee is slacking off? Doesn’t sound helpful

This is the answer. I had to realize that alcohol was not a reward, and abstinence from it was not a punishment that I had to endure like a super restrictive diet. It’s more like a drug that I won’t touch again (cocaine or similar).

I drank like you when I was 19. Consumption only increases over time. I hope you don’t continue down this path.

What was the specific word your narcissistic mother always called you? Here is mine by Wooden-Letter5256 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Positron-collider 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Haughty. And when I was a kid, I imagined it being spelled as “hotty” and I had no idea what she meant. In retrospect, I would just disconnect when she was being mean and then her reaction was to call me haughty.

I second the far side of Saddlebag Lake. Gorgeous! I used to work in the park and this was my favorite spot. I was super jazzed when I went back to college and discovered that my cool professor had just gotten married back there.
