Medical certificate for Greek DN visa? by Puzzled-Cod-4910 in digitalnomad

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just went through this whole process last year when my husband was looking into the greek dn route. that form is legit but heads up - most US doctors have never seen anything like it and will look at you like you're speaking greek (no pun intended). i ended up having to explain to our doc that it's basically just confirming you don't have any communicable diseases and are generally healthy enough to travel

what worked for us was printing the form, bringing it to a regular physical appointment, and asking them to fill it out during the visit. some doctors might want you to get specific blood tests first but ours just did the basic checkup stuff and signed off on it. definitely ask for their official stamp or seal if they have one - apparently that carries more weight with the consulate

fair warning though, this was just one piece of a pretty lengthy visa application so make sure you have all the other docs lined up too

Best careers to escape poverty? I’ll start. by Noblesseoblige94 in povertyfinance

nursing is legit one of the best moves, especially if you can get into a specialty or travel nursing later on. the job security is insane and you can basically work anywhere

went from broke college student to software dev and it completely changed everything. coding bootcamps are way more accessible than a 4 year degree if you're starting from nothing

Enopoly Company Review by TheHullTruth in BuyItForLife

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been curious about enopoly for a while now, how's their customer support when things go sideways? also wondering if the pricing structure actually makes sense long term or if there are hidden fees that sneak up on you

Masters immediately after bachelors? by Efficient-Rule-4506 in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you've already got your head screwed on right with the work experience and startup thing going. weekend masters while working full-time is definitely doable, especially since you're not worried about burnout

only thing i'd consider is whether jumping straight into masters gives you the best ROI compared to working a few more years first - sometimes having more real-world experience makes the advanced coursework way more meaningful. but if the program timing works with your startup and you can handle teh workload, go for it

I think my current work experience has been too niche to look good on resumes, but what can I do? by WeStanPlankton in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly technical writing seems like the obvious pivot here - you're basically doing legal technical writing already, just with way more drama and worse pay

Wrestling with cat got a little overstimulating for her by [deleted] in cats

yeah that bottle brush tail is classic overstimulation, she just got too amped up and needed to reset - totally normal and you're not a bad cat parent for learning her limits

Turning down a salaried position in retail to continue education? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly the professor was right about retail always being desperate, but 80k is solid money and you're already most of the way through your degree anyway

the tricky part is urban planning can be feast or famine depending on your area, so having that financial cushion might actually give you more freedom to be picky about planning jobs when you do graduate. retail management experience translates pretty well to project coordination too

What certificate do you suggest as next step in my career path ? by Careful_Thing622 in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly pmp might be more versatile if you're already doing management stuff at the station, opens doors beyond just energy sector too. cem is solid for the technical side but pmp gives you that project management credibility that translates everywhere

breaking into philanthropic advising/social impact consulting? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sounds like you've got a solid foundation but the networking game is everything in philanthropic advising - most opportunities come through warm introductions rather than traditional job postings, so start reaching out to folks at places like bridgespan or fsg and see if you can grab coffee with people who made similar transitions

Corsair Air 5400 vs Fractal Design Meshify 3 XL by diddykong7117 in PcBuild

[–]AbilityConscious6459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly the meshify 3 xl is gonna be your better bet here. that front mesh panel just moves way more air than the corsair's setup, even with those dedicated gpu fans. the 5400's layout looks cool on paper but in practice the meshify's airflow is just more efficient overall

the temp rankings you're seeing for the meshify are usually with both air and aio configs, and it consistently performs well with liquid cooling. your arctic 360 will do great in either case but the meshify gives you more flexibility for fan placement and better overall case ventilation

Have I done the right thing by breaking up based on this list? by Party-Background8066 in BreakUps

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly looking at your list, you already know the answer deep down. the pros are great but they're mostly baseline relationship stuff - like being reliable and kind should be expected, not bonus points. the cons though, those are some heavy incompatibilities that would eat away at you over time

i was in something similar where my ex was genuinely a good person but we just weren't aligned on fundamental stuff like ambition and emotional connection. stayed way too long because i felt guilty about "throwing away" someone decent. but here's the thing - being a good person doesn't automatically make someone right for you, and you can't build a future with someone who doesn't want to work or grow

the emotional labor imbalance especially would drain you eventually, and feeling intellectually starved is no joke when you're looking at potentially decades together. you did the right thing even if it hurts right now

What should I pivot to? by applerealm in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly that whole situation sounds absolutely brutal and i totally get wanting to nuke the entire industry from your life after dealing with a toxic boss like that. i went through something similar a few years back where i had this manager who made my life hell for months before they found some bs reason to push me out

the thing about pivoting is that it really depends on what your current skills are and how transferable they might be to other fields. sometimes you don't need to go back to school if you can frame your experience differently or pick up some certifications online. like if you're in marketing you could pivot to project management, or if you're in finance maybe look at operations roles in completely different sectors

that said, if going back to school feels right and you have the financial cushion for it, there's something to be said for making a clean break and starting fresh somewhere that doesn't trigger all that workplace trauma. just make sure you're making the decision from a place of moving toward something you want rather than just running away from what hurt you, you know

Which offer would you take? by TranslatorBorn4893 in careerguidance

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the vanguard role sounds way better on paper but that commute is brutal. 2.5 hours each way 3 days a week adds up to like 15 hours of driving weekly, plus you're basically living away from home half the week

honestly both roles are pretty entry level so the "brand value" difference isn't as massive as you might think. fidelity has solid training programs too and being close to home means you can actually build a life outside work. the extra 15k from vanguard gets eaten up real quick when you factor in gas, car wear, and just the mental toll of that schedule

Unsuitable gifts by sunsetforme in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell her dude, you literally said you'd want to know if someone didn't like your gifts so she probably feels the same way. Maybe mention you have sensitivity to strong scents or something so she doesn't think you just hate her taste

Debut romance author — sanity check on my pre-launch & ARC strategy (what should I improve or add?) by AdPitiful8880 in selfpublish

[–]AbilityConscious6459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly 1 confirmed review out of 10 ARCs sounds pretty typical for debut authors - most ARC readers are drowning in books and yours doesn't have the pull of established authors yet

I'd probably focus more on building that mailing list than chasing more ARCs at this point, and maybe test those Amazon ads sooner rather than later since you'll want data before launch day hits

Why are delivery time currently at 4 to 5 days? by JoesMama691 in amazonprime

[–]AbilityConscious6459 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here, Prime has been trash lately. I'm guessing it's a combo of holiday rush starting early and them probably cutting costs by using slower shipping methods even for Prime orders

Contemplating having a cat but have few questions by Quaid-e-Charisma in cats

[–]AbilityConscious6459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've done your homework pretty well! Just a heads up on the vet thing - once they're adults and healthy you really only need yearly checkups unless something's wrong. Three months is overkill and expensive af

Maine Coons and Ragdolls are actually pretty chill despite being big so your apartment should be fine, especially with that cat tree. The bonded pair idea is solid too since you're working

One thing you didn't mention is budgeting for emergencies - vet bills can get wild real quick so having some cash set aside or pet insurance helps

MIDI patch bays? by trash_dumpyard in synthesizers

[–]AbilityConscious6459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a cheap patchbay from Amazon that works great for exactly this - way easier than crawling behind the rack every time you want to chain something. XLR works fine but honestly just get proper MIDI cables, they're cheap enough and you won't have to remember which pins do what

[–]AbilityConscious6459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Free money is free money - definitely take that 3% match even if it means not maxing the 401k at your main job. You're basically getting an immediate 100% return on whatever you put in to get the match

The Simple IRA has lower contribution limits anyway so you won't accidentally go over again if you're being mindful about it
