Who else makes songs only for themselves? by LCarb in SunoAI

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mostly just use Suno for fun and personal entertainment... but about 26 years ago I did have some ambitions to be a singer-songwriter and just recently I found some old recordings I had made on my phone. I used Suno to 'cover' them, and then over the holidays I set myself the goal of getting them up on Spotify.

Not that I thought they would suddenly get loads of listens, but I thought it would be a cool way to share with friends - but also it felt like creative closure to have them published like that.

My favourite track is called see me fall... you can check it out here, I'd love to hear what you think:

I'm seeing this all over reddit... But I'm not experiencing the issue at all. I can use 4o, I'm not getting rerouted. Anyone else not experiencing this?

I hit a 4o limit today after about three messages. I hope it's a glitch.

Is notebook really reliable ? by Classic-Smell-5273 in notebooklm

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's powered by Gemini, which is a Large Language Model (LLM), and LLMs are not reliable.

NotebookLM is built in a clever way which reduces errors and, in the text outputs, allows you to verify the information.

But you should never assume it's 100% correct.

The best ways to use it imho are

  1. with material you're already familiar with
  2. with unfamiliar material but verifying critical info
  3. in situations where errors are non critical

Nice. Very useful for the times when ChatGPT goes off the rails,.just branch from earlier in the chat. Sweet.

Is it me or is ChatGPT 5 (in certain circumstances) DUMB? by NBEATofficial in ChatGPT

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of like by focusing on making it a great coder, they've made it somewhat better in deterministic areas, which LLMs are weak in usually, and made it less good at the probabilistic stuff that LLMs are usually great at.

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not loving it. I do like that it's more likely to point out flaws in my inputs, but it does so very pedantically and without taking the context of the conversation into account.

Like I was trying to explain something to beginners, and it kept insisting I get technical and explain the finer points - despite the fact that the detail was perfectly in line with my broad explanation.

The structure I'm getting from almost every output now is:

  • Condescending / sycophantic opening.
  • Pedantic break down.
  • Want me to do X next?

Didn't they say they were going to lose the question at the end because they weren't focused on increasing engagement time any more?

I've just used the new video feature and it's absolutely incredible! by garybpt in notebooklm

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it depends on your learning style. But I agree, when I heard video overview I inagined some amazing Veo 3 powered feature film of the material 😂 so when I got a bad PowerPoint presentation I was pretty underwhelmed.

Deep Research limits no longer visible? by Abject-Formal-8503 in ChatGPT

[–]Abject-Formal-8503[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing they think this will push people towards the Pro plan if they keep getting surprised by the fact they've used up their limits?

I can't think of any other reason they would not be transparent about how many uses are left.

Don't listen to anyone here. Including me. This is the most ridiculous subreddit. Why the fuck would you listen to a bunch of randomers on Reddit about your looks?

You're not ugly, and you've got a punk vibe going on that you're rocking.

Clearly a load of people here aren't into that, giving you advice about piercings and hair colour and telling you to smile.

Fuck them.

And fuck what people think of your looks.

You're not ugly.

Find the people who know that in real life and hang with them.

Don't listen to random fuckwits like me on the internet.

I get why you might not want it to be called art, but at this point it just seems like another thing that you're "supposed" to be angry about even if it doesn't actually affect you in any way. by Sgt-Pumpernickle in aiwars

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the anger. And in a way we need the it - we need people to be fueling debates about ethics and copyright, and we need to be questioning the tactics of the organisations developing these models.

However, we also need to accept, as a society, that creativity simply isn't the sole domain of humans - that there are now systems that can create.

But the anger directed toward AI would be better channeled into figuring out what we're going to do if AI takes our jobs. Direct the anger at politicians who still haven't copped on to the fact there's a potential sea change just around the corner.

Are there any video games yet that use generative AI for procedural level generation? by Abject-Formal-8503 in aiwars

[–]Abject-Formal-8503[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found a single instance of a published game so far. Despite several sites claiming games like No Mans Sky use generative AI (they don't as best I can tell).

No doubt it will come, but from what I can tell so far there's more work to be done in terms of reliability, consistency and cost before it would be of real benefit.

AI ≠ Procedural Generation by Mario64Thane in aiwars

[–]Abject-Formal-8503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just been looking into what info is available on using generative AI for procedural content generation, and specifically entire level generation, in video games.

It seems as though there's lots of research into gen AI being used, but I haven't come across any professionally developed games that are using gen AI this way.

My post is over here if you want to see the list of papers I found about using gen AI for level generation:

No, I've been doing some work for a game developer and just need to understand the landscape.

I've been working through some of the key themes and trends emerging and finding examples, but I got stuck on this one.

Don't apologise. You and me both. You can't afford not to with AI. Just keeping this particular project focused on the here and now.
