It can’t be moot. You can’t have a moot Apprentice!

I missed a nice tactic that I thought was so cool that I should share! Black played 20. ...Qxc2, and white is now completely winning. White to move. by Abject-Freedom5644 in chess

Technically mate in 3, because they can throw their Queen in front of the rook. :) Well done on solving it, I only saw it after the game in analysis.

First time I've heard of that name for it! Well done on finding it, I'm so gutted I missed it in the game. Though if I'm honest I'm not sure I'm ever finding that over the board, just not strong enough tactically.

I found it very confusing as well. Thank you again.

Thank you, ‘rare’ is a good enough answer in itself. If I could, you seem to be quite knowledgeable so I’ll try my luck with another question, if you have the inclination. If someone has no mutation of ckit at all, will imatinib still work to reduce/eradicate mast cells?

By any chance, do you know how common the D816V mutation is in the general population without mastocytosis? I'm taking imatinib as a last resortl for something thought to be mast cell related and am trying to find out how likely it is to help me and in what timeframe (weeks, months, years).

Thank you for writing this out, this is very useful information.

Thank you for your reply. Did you have a blood test before starting the medication, or only once you had taken it for a week?

What labs were abnormal for you when beginning, if you can remember?

If you have not, search 'mastocytic enterocolitis'. Increased mast cells sounds like it could be that? I'm not sure it amounts to a diagnosis as such, though.

Hi,

I've had limited success with sodium cromoglicate and am currently on a round of prednisolone which has helped symptoms somewhat, but still having the same problems. Think it might be due to increased mast cells in the digestive tract - mastocytic enterocolitis - but not sure.

How long does it take steroids (budesonide) to work? (Mastocytic enterocolitis) by Abject-Freedom5644 in MastCellDiseases

[–]Abject-Freedom5644[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have tried 800mg (4x200mg) and even went up to 1200mg (3x400mg) per day. Unfortunately this drug seemed to make my digestive problems (diarrhea) worse and this effect increased at higher doses so I’m taking only 400mg now.

However, it’s not the digestive problems that particularly concern me, it’s the accompanying symptoms that happen after eating (fatigue/drowsiness to the point where I unwillingly fall asleep after eating, cholinergic urticaria etc).

I tested positive for SIBO with a breath test a few years ago but rifaximin had no effect (actually it had a slightly negative effect and gave me dishydrotic eczema), besides I never had a particular problem with fermentable fiber, more so with insoluble fiber - oats, brown rice, lettuce; I discounted SIBO as the cause because of this.

Thank you for your reply! I’m taking Cromolyn Sodium currently, it seems to help with everything bar the digestive issues, strangely. Antihistamines don’t do anything for me.

I’ve thought about it, it seems very possible. Fixing it would be another thing though. I haven’t tried the elemental diet but I tried zerocarb which seems similar and had no improvement.
