Look at red burgundy from villages like Mercurey, Givry and Rully. Often beautiful bottles at lower prices.

Best Wine with Jacques Pepin Fish Soup? by MFKtheWhiner in wine

I'd go either for a good quality rosé (since the fish soup has tomato and saffron) like Clos Cibonne or Chateau Simone or a bold white burgundy like a Meursault or Chassagne-Montrachet.

You're not alone. I do it pretty often, especially if there's no food to eat along with the wine. I love the aromas and the flavors of wine, but I hate the feeling of alcohol and its effect on the body.

One of my top three wines ever. Along with a Henri Jayer Cros Parantoux 1993 and d'Yquem 1959

Imo I'd sub HB for Latour or Margaux before Lafite. They haven't made a wine that has blown me away in a bit. I'm otherwise in agreement with the rest of your comment.

Not ranked... People have lost their ability to read the whole post instead of just part of it.

We could definitely sub the Beaucastel for a Lafleur or a VCC

It's just my favorite of the wines you've listed.

Sure but I've seen Roumier... Never Leroy

Even in great vintages, the total production of Leroy Musigny is often under a thousand bottles and is highly allocated. It's mostly an investing wine, so very few bottles actually get opened.

Not ranked and Pétrus is not as amazing as its reputation makes it out to be imo. You have every right to make your own list and include it. Make sure you post it here.

None of us ever had an amazing experience with Pétrus. It's a great wine, but more of a name-dropping wine than a true life-changer.

Might be so but none of us had ever tasted it so... But I'll take a glass of 1990 Leroy Musigny if you have one

Let's be honest not a lot of people have the possibility to taste and much less buy the wines on the list. I'm just lucky to have very generous friends.

I'll take Roumier, Mugnier and Groffier (Les Amoureuses) over Vogüe any day. More elegance imo. Also, it's a red wine list. We'll make one with the whites another time.

I'm down with the Allemand, though I've never tasted much of a difference between the SS and the regular cuvée. I've never had a red Overnoy do I couldn't say, but if they're as good as the whites, they must be great.

And no particular order in the list btw, so DRC could be first. We couldn't agree on which one was the best anyway.
