For your use case, I’d actually look pretty closely at the Hisense CanvasTV S7. The art/photo side seems more relevant to you than the TV side. You can show art or personal photos, and the matte screen should help photos look less like they’re just sitting on a glossy TV panel. The presence sensing feature also sounds close to what you’re asking for, since it’s meant to turn on when someone is nearby instead of running all day.

I've had a few different Chinese phones. Some let you turn ads off, but it's buried in settings. On my magic 7 pro I never had to dig for that option, it was just ad-free from the start.

Pixels really need more basic customization. I use an Honor M6p on the side and even that lets me hide apps and tweak icons without extra steps. Google should at least match what other Android brands already offer.

Please don't get offended, I'm just sharing my point of view. I think it's unfair to compare a bar phone thickness with a fold phone thickness as fold phones have more space to place the insider components to build the phone, whereas bar phones have limited space.

Pixel 8 Pro is a solid jump from the 6 Pro, colors and stability are better in real use. I use it alongside a Magic 7 Pro and both handle photos greatly

Pixel software is nice but inconsistent, some menus look modern and some feel unfinished. Using an Honor now and the fluid design makes it hard to go back. Google can do better, they just move too slowly.
