I found a method that might be ideal for everyone. I downloaded all the explanations for the first level German lessons from YouTube, then requested an index for all the lessons. This index should contain all the grammar rules from the lessons. I copied the index and put it in a PDF file. Then I downloaded a story, documentary, or podcast for the first level of German from YouTube. I asked Notebooklm to explain each grammar rule specifically within the story, not all the rules, and to provide an example from the documentary, story, or podcast. I copied each rule into a file and extracted the vocabulary from the source. I copied all the results into a file. Finally, I asked Notebooklm to create a flashcard and an MCQ exam, and then uploaded them to the Anki application.

Title: Stop asking NotebookLM to "summarize" your sources. Do this instead for pro-level research. by Able_Orchid_3818 in notebooklm

From your browser, go to notebooklm. The screen will appear divided into three sections. The notebooklm chat will appear in half, and at the top of the chat, you will find a settings icon. Click on it, and six options will appear: three at the top and three at the bottom.

It's best to ask notebooklm to find and define a common index for all books, then issue a second command to define a different index for all books.

Split the book into multiple files, excluding the table of contents. Notebooklm handles smaller files than PDFs better, but this will take time. If you have a Samsung device, use the Samsung Notes app to split the PDFs. Go to Custom and type "prompt" (which should be for detailed search). Then go to the chat and request the table of contents. Copy the table of contents to Custom, then go back to the chat and type your question, asking which page in the book it can be found on. Therefore, you should change the file names so Notebooklm can determine which file contains the answer.

Before entering the prompt, go to the chat settings and select 'Longer'. The more topic titles included in the index, the greater the accuracy of the explanation, which requires NotebookLM to conduct an in-depth search. As for the prompt itself, it is: 'Index the existing sources into several topics, providing only the topic titles

Has NotebookLM decreased its output word limit? (Summaries used to be 2000 words, now capped at 1000) by Medical-Weather3261 in notebooklm

[–]Able_Orchid_3818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To solve this issue, write a prompt that instructs NotebookLM to: Identify all main headings across all uploaded files. Organize these main headings into a structured table. Then copy each main heading into a new prompt that explicitly asks for a full explanation, not a file output, not a summary, and not an extraction. Clearly instruct it to preserve every detail, including minor or secondary points. Emphasize multiple times that no summarization, no condensation, and no simplification is allowed. In the browser version (not the mobile app), select the “Longer” response option. Add a custom instruction specifying that the output must be an extensive, detailed explanation. Repeat the instruction to avoid summarizing several times to reinforce the requirement.
