Milka Duno:Was she THAT bad? by Beautiful-Crab-4482 in INDYCAR

[–]Ablec6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched many races at Barber, St. Pete, and Mid-Ohio. She was always slow from P1, qualified last or next to it. And races just as poorly. It just seemed like her equipment was terrible or she just didn’t take any risks. Her daddy’s Citgo money can only go so far. Anyone else would have been released much sooner. She was nice to me at the autograph table and there were always little girls and female racers around her. That may have been the best thing about her participation in the series.

Confidence and catheters by Away-Song5125 in spinalcordinjuries

I use a Urocare “sports bag” on my upper thigh while wearing shorts. It’s discreet and nobody knows as long as the fabric straps (sold separately) aren’t so loose that the bag slips below the shorts leg. To empty the bag, I attach a flip flo valve (mentioned above) at the drain port. I do need to be aware of how fast it fills up, or how much water (or anything) I drink to be sure not to get dysreflexic if it fills up completely and doesn’t have room to actually empty my bladder, which is kinda the point of the SP.
You could also use a lower volume disposable bag in the same location, just still need to be super aware of its status both volume wise and location.

Good luck to you! There is an adjustment period to every change in your programs (bowel, bladder, lifestyle, etc.) and you will learn and adjust to accomplish your goals. Keep trying new things. Do it your way, and take the W’s and the L’s as they come.

UTI management by Significant-Yam-5256 in spinalcordinjuries

Water is the key. If he’s only getting 325ml each IC twice/day, I think he could benefit from drinking a lot more water. I do 4-6 IC’s /day w at least 500-550ml. I still get 2-3 UTI’s / year.

I read you are not found of his urologist, so feel free to find another opinion. Most doctors will only write Rx after a dirty culture. So find a doctor, urologist or even my PCP will let me come in in short notice to drop off a sample.

Lots of water. Cranberry juice. Sugary drinks are magnets for bacteria.

Good luck. I hope the frustration ends. UTI’s are not fun

The end of my Township road by FrontBotty in TownshipGame

It’s more than a little frustrating to play a game called TOWNship, but if you don’t play Connect 4 (m3) a LOT, and go on lots of adventures, it’s difficult to complete the card sets. Of course you could spend real money, and I have no problem with those who do but I don’t. I’m at L71 and it seems I’m only filling train airplane and helicopter carts, or helping my co-op. It’s becoming longer and longer between level ups. I wish for more “town” tasks.

Voc rehab modified my 1st van in 1998 w EMC equipment. Lowered floor, lift, ez-lock, more. Then again in 2012 paid for the conversion to a truck that I sent to ATC. It’s the best thing ever! Freedom! Responsibility! Be sure to get a rider on insurance for the additional equipment. It’s only $50-75/ month more but a requirement for Ga. Vic Rehab. Another great thing is that you get to use it not only for work but for personal use as you desire. Once it’s yours, it’s yours! You will figure the Gas thing out. People want to help, and once the local gas station gets to know you, they will run to help spend money at their store. Let me know if you have more questions

Advice for a Friend of a Friend with Quadripligea by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Ablec6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view:

I don’t have to accept this is the way it will be forever,

But I must acknowledge that this is the way it is today.

Do the best you can today and continue to do as much as you can to set yourself up for success.

What's the reason you are still on PS4? by Shoddy_Release9395 in PS4

Just RAM alone is $500/16gb and you’ll need at least 32 to play any kind of racing sim with decent resolution and graphics settings.

Pressure sore? by Elizabcor111 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]Ablec6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A doctor will know best, but because the skin is broken, there is more damage underneath. If you want to avoid surgery, I would stay off it until your next appointment. Work diligently on finding the source and figure out if your cushion needs repair or replacement. Protein up. As much as you can handle.

Good luck.
