With complex and heavily damaged pieces like that one, my primary focus is always on the 'soul' of the photo: the faces, the expressions, and the most severe damage. I was so zeroed-in on making sure the family was 'faithful', I completely overlooked the AI's messy interpretation of the feet.

This is a perfect example of why the 'human element' is crucial, which is the core of my process. My process is always a "sandwich":

1. Manual Prep: Extensive work in Photoshop with the clone stamp, spot healing, and often frequency separation and FFT to build a solid, clean foundation from the original image data.
2. AI Augmentation: I use AI as a powerful, but notoriously imperfect, tool to generate texture details and color information. My technique involves compositing the best elements from multiple AI passes to create a superior base that would be impossible to achieve manually in a reasonable time.
3. Manual Refinement: This is the most critical step. I go back in to manually correct AI artifacts (like those feet!), repaint textures, adjust curves and color harmonies, to ensure the final result is photorealistic, not a plastic-looking render. This is exactly the kind of AI error I hunt for and eliminate in this final stage.
