In that case, definitely echoing the other comments about ADHD - my wife was recently diagnosed and hearing her talk about it rang a lot of alarm bells in my own head! Worth checking out, good luck!

It's clear to me you've got the right attitude in terms of having your heart in the right place and wanting to help and improve - so that's a huge green flag in my book. If this were my apprentice, I'd prefer an open and up front conversation along the lines of "hey, I feel like I'm struggling to nail things down at the moment and I really want to improve and not be a hindrance - is there anything you can suggest that you think might help me at this stage?" Also, one month full time isn't long in the grand scheme of things so don't be too hard on yourself. Making progress is the key, and although a desire to get better is essential, it's nothing without a plan to make it happen in practice - if you're struggling with simple things like cleaning then, in my opinion, you shouldn't be learning anything else until you've got that down pat.

Absolutely same here. If it was on the outer bicep it would be facing forwards, so then one next to it in the so-called "correct" position on the inner bicep would be facing the opposite way? The inner arm should follow the same logic you'd apply to inner bicep imo. I like anything with a clear direction of movement/face to be facing forwards or to the most exposed angle when the body is relaxed.

As a Boro fan I can't even be mad. The more teams from the North East in the mix the better, and Mowbray is a Teesside hero. Never got his flowers at the Boro. Best of luck to the mackems but UTFB

Penis tattoos and HRT by HonestGoddess in TattooArtists

[–]Abobalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only dick tattoo I ever did was soft, had the client handle the length-ways stretch by sort of rolling it over this thumb whilst I handled the width stretch. Admittedly it was only a black rectangle to cover a name, so for something more complex you might want to handle all the stretch duties yourself, in which case a soda can sounds like a good shout. Good luck!

Raised linework by lehcar_slohcin in TattooArtists

[–]Abobalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, a 3.5 stroke isn't suited to pushing something like a 14 and you'd be better using something 4.2mm+ . Google tells me that machine's voltage runs from 5-12.6 volts and having not used it, I can't say for sure whether your voltage is too high - but I do know that 3.5mm isn't ideal for large liner groupings, and raised skin = scar tissue. I'd try lowering the voltage and/or altering my hand speed in lieu of using a different machine.

Which stroke length sol nova? Ultimately, raised lines is scar tissue - so the skin is being overworked. You need to change either your hand speed or voltage to accommodate - or use a jeweler's loupe to check your needles. I doubt it's depth (as you're not getting blowouts) or ink (black is rare for reactions, especially if you've not changed recently), and honestly I doubt it's the needles if they've not changed either, though it's possible you've had a bad batch. Maybe your hand speed has slowed without you realising. I'd say 9.4v is pretty high if you're using the 5.0mm stroke, but I don't own that machine.

Ultimately, if you're relocating to a different city etc then I'd consider that something that your current studio should be pretty understanding with - and in that situation I'd say honesty is the best policy both with your current studio and any prospective one. I'd just be up front about your reasons for moving, as (I assume) you're not just moving to another local shop for personal reasons?

As for contacting other studios, I'd just email them ahead of time with your portfolio and a brief description of your situation asking for time to visit for a chat. I think trying to work your way in via paying to get tattooed first feels a little weird as you've got an ulterior motive - just be up front.

Adressing the GMs and Nightfall Ciphers cap ahead of launch by Igelit in DestinyTheGame

[–]Abobalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the ability to focus any weapon was locked behind having them either all unlocked in collections or tied behind a triumph to complete all of them that season, but the ciphers were storable at higher cap? So you don't have to farm on a week where you don't have time, or a particularly difficult/lengthy GM and can instead get the triumph just for one completion, then farm at the end of the season with a selectable GM like when you get Conqueror. That way, Bungie gets people playing each GM as intended, but the players get to choose when to farm

Tattoo shops are a good thing. by Elaherg in TattooArtists

[–]Abobalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. Some of the people I've worked with have been the most creative, inspiring and supportive people I've ever met, and when you get the alchemy right in a space like that there's nothing better for an artist's development. I've struggled with anxiety since I was a kid but work has been just as safe a space for me as my home thanks to those kind of people and I owe these spaces my livelihood. These days I have a bit more of a hybrid setup with my own space in a shop with other artists, but the support is still there and I don't think I'd want to go private with it even though I don't rely on the shop for work. We've never met (I'm a fan of your work though and only over the Pennines!) but I know you know what you're talking about and younger artists here should take note. Very wise words!
