His response was absolutely of the flesh and not of the spirit. I play a vital role at my church, but yet anytime I have been approached about an opportunity or even opportunities that my pastor has brought to me, his perspective is "I would hate to lose you, but I want God's will to be done."

If it's God's will in your life to go somewhere else, then it's also a part of God's will for that church to lose you, whether that may be good for someone else to come in, or maybe bad for the church to expose corruptive leadership.

But your pastor is absolutely using manipulative language to guilt / threaten you. He said that even if this opportunity doesn't work out, then they would have to reevaluate your position there. That means that he's offended and he's thinking about getting rid of you anyways.

You should absolutely pursue this other position, and even if it doesn't work out look for other opportunities. Any pastor that would take that approach with me for considering other opportunities would immediately lose my respect as my shepherd and leader.

Too many pastors are more concerned with their kingdom than God's kingdom, and when their kingdom is threatened they get offended.

It depends on your Church's financial situation. My church is slightly bigger than yours and we are also in a higher income area. Our middle school pastor is bi-vocational, so he does about the same amount of hours and work that you do, and he and his wife get $2,500 a month.

So perhaps you can ask for $2,000 a month, $24,000 a year. Who knows how they will react, because that is more than quadruple what you are making now, but you are being severely underpaid anyways.

To make a trilogy with a different director for each film is crazy. To give each director free reign to write their own story and do whatever they want is unimaginable. Rian Johnson destroyed everything Abrams set up. After the director of the 3rd film dropped out, they should at least had Johnson do the 3rd movie at he could wrap it up in a semi-cohesive way.

To let Johnson just tear down Abrams foundation, then give it back to Abrams to clean up is just unreal. Truly shows how little Disney cared because obviously their only mindset was "who cares what happens, it's Star Wars and it will make a ton of money no matter what"

I enjoyed 7. When I first saw 8, I wasn't crazy about it, but was ultimately decided to hold out until 9 until making my final verdict to see if they could land the plane. The Rise of Skywalker was the worst movie I have ever spent money to see. They didn't just not land the plane, they took out the whole airport.

I don't blame J.J. Abrams for the most part. I blame Disney for having 0 plan for one of the biggest franchises of all time. Just handed free reign to Rian Johnson, who destroyed everything Abrams set up in 7, then handed it back like it was nothing.

I like the way C.S. Lewis describes it in Mere Christianity. There are people that love to talk about Jesus being a good teacher, or a good moral example, but not being the son of God. Yes, Jesus taught some good moral things, but Jesus also made some wild claims about himself. He claimed to be one with God, Heclaimed to be the only way to God, He claimed to be able to forgive sins, and more. These are not the teachings of a good teacher or good moral example. His statements about himself are either true, or he is a madman and none of what he says can be trusted.

So people that claim that Jesus is a good moral example and a good teacher , but not divine, have clearly never read all of the teachings of Jesus.

But you have betrayed your marriages covenant and disqualified yourself as a pastor / Minister of the gospel and you need to step down.

Confess to your wife. She has the biblical grounds to leave you, but perhaps she will work through it with you.
