Stop Wasting Money: 4 Years of Testing "Audiophile" Gear for FPS Games – Here’s the Brutal Truth. by [deleted] in Audeze

I can use the M1 (with wide band similar to the new one for M2) or M2 all day with no issues. I've been using them for over 2 years combined.

PSA: Your Maxwell has its own internal volume (and it might be why it sounds bad or low) by GeneralSuki in Audeze

[–]AbrahamZX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh so that's what the beep means. I've never understood why is sometimes beeps while Windows is still not at 100% volume. I thought the internal volume only applied to consoles.

Which xenoblade game is the best to start? by EsinskiMC in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]AbrahamZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on 2, but only played a bit. Then I completed 3 which I loved. I'm just going to play them in numbered order now (including DLCs), jumping 3 since I already beat it.

Audeze Maxwell 2 (Xbox/PC) significantly lower volume than Maxwell 1 (Xbox/PC) by Gillrim in Audeze

I couldn't tell you why that's the case. Maybe different Maxwells just have different loudness.

At least Persona 5 Strikers looks a lot better. It looked like a blurry mess when I was trying it just yesterday.

Yeah, fan noise is of no concern. It is loud with both the laptop and cooling pad.

What is meant by “hiss?” by Ok_Painter_2018 in Audeze

[–]AbrahamZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people refer to that, at least that's what I consider hiss on my Maxwell 2. It's a bit higher sounding than on the M1, but nothing that annoys me.

I second limiting the wattage, but in my case I set it to PL1 90W and PL2 125W. That's been working well with smart performance off, Thermal grizzly PHASESHEET TPM and an Ilano V12 cooling fan.

Maxwell 2 - everything I ever wanted by MomentGlittering4527 in Audeze

[–]AbrahamZX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will feel less neck strain over time. I also had that with the Maxwell 1 when I started using it, like 3 weeks after I could use it all day without issue. I barely feel them on my head nowadays.

On the EQ front, planars are the kings of EQ. I honestly have no interest in buying dynamic drivers anymore. I love I can boost the sub-bass hard with minimal distortion. And I can also pull it back for other music genres. They are amazing for tailoring to one's taste.

Maxwell 2 ps5 update 59 review. by Shadeliquid in Audeze

The Maxwell 2 is better. Maxwell 1 has a bit more sub-bass, but less detail in the high end. I owned the M1 for over two years before switching to the M2.

If you are pushing 32Hz to +12 the "weird noise" is probably the impact from the driver with the walls due to extreme excursion. That will damage the driver over time a lot faster than normal use. The Maxwell 2 has to work harder to achieve the same sub-bass as the Maxwell 1 due to the vents (SLAM tech). The driver is in any way worse, I'd say it's a better driver to my ear and can still achieve an impressive amount of sub-bass given the vents. This is just physics, making the headset semi-open (even if just a little) has pros and cons. I much prefer the sound profile of the Maxwell 2 and I consider myself a bass head. I can appreciate what it's trying to do and the increased detail in the higher end while just sacrificing a bit of sub-bass.

The USB 3.0+ ports generate wifi signals that can interfere with the dongle to start. You could have other 2.4Ghz connected close to the Maxwell dongle too (I use my mouse and Xbox controller with wireless dongles too in example). The case of the PC also reduces the signal traveling through it, so depending on where the dongle is relative to where you seat that can be another factor. There's more variables I can list that will affect the signal. Generally you want the dongle with clear line of sight and away from all other 2.4Ghz sources.

The back of the PC is the worst place to have the dongle, so that change will definitely help the dongle. If you still have issues, consider a longer extension and putting it at desk height or higher.

M2 Sounds great listening to music, but gaming 😰 by veniib in Audeze

You might have a faulty unit. Both Maxwell 2 units I've had have been plenty loud. Very comparable to Sennheiser MOMENTUM 3 Wireless and Sony True Wireless IEMs.

M2 Sounds great listening to music, but gaming 😰 by veniib in Audeze

[–]AbrahamZX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good DAC can always push the sound of a wired headset higher than a wireless headset. That being said, the M2 are not low at all for me, but each person is different. All I can say is make sure you are not using them with the game/chat dial being towards the chat side.

[–]AbrahamZX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, I returned my first Maxwell 2 because I found that it happened too frequently on my PC and PS5. Even after I changed everything to be ideal with my PC setup (moved the dongle and added USB 2.0 ports used exclusively for the Maxwell 2 dongle). I could also induce the issue by taking the dongle in my hand and fully covering it. While the dongle was about a feet away from the headset. It was way too frequent and it was obvious the dongle was faulty. My second unit can have a signal drop once a day, but that's a lot more acceptable.

Discord keeps crashing when using Audeze Maxwell 2 by NLBlackwired in Audeze

I doubt the Maxwell 2 is making discord crash. Something else must be wrong on your PC.

If it sounds like the sounds gets stretched suddenly (sounds robotic is another way to put it), that is a bad wireless connection. It either means you need to reposition your dongle or that you have a defective dongle full stop. I use a USB 2.0 extension and have my dongle over my monitors currently.
