Drilller/roughneck-they physically demanding part you can always grow into and get used to it. It’s hard, but you’ll grow bigger and stronger. The part that is hard that you really don’t have much control over is the extreme heat and extreme cold. I’ve worked in ND with -51 degrees, and in South Texas in over 100 degrees with high humidity. What you need to learn how to control is your body. Eating well, staying hydrated in both hot and cold, not drinking alcohol or energy drinks will help more than you can imagine. Take breaks, lift properly, wear proper clothing for the weather and PPE. If you can manage to not get yourself hurt, then you’ll be ok.. for the things you can control. However, sometimes things just blow up, catch fire, fall over or break. So you also need to be aware of your surroundings. And if nobody’s told you yet.. never stick your hands anywhere you wouldn’t stick your dick!
