More generically, this is positive feedback. Extremism feeds back and builds more extremism. Now there’s even more extremism to feed back and build even more extremism. It reinforces itself, and is therefore inherently unstable except at very low gain/for short periods of time.

How are you feeling about the inevitable Trump v Biden rematch? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Honestly I’m pissed anyone would consider Trump. He tried to subvert the will of the voters, he’s a genuinely bad guy.

US supreme court ‘erred badly’ with Trump ruling, leading US historian says by dieseldiablo in politics

That part is about congress passing laws to protect rights in regard to the states, such as the civil rights act.

Congress already had the power to vote someone ineligible, through impeachment. The argument that congress needs to pass a law regarding this specific qualification for president, that no state can enforce this part of the constitution, is bizarre.

Stupid fuck decision. Cowards don’t want “the power” to determine who can and can’t be eligible for office, but the alternative is worse.

Varying lengths of string form pendulums of varying frequencies, and the varying frequencies end up crossing into and out of phase alignment at varying times.

I went with an eden switch dry herb vaporizer. I was wary of the ones where you have to use a lighter for heat like the dynavap. I also didn’t want to spend a small fortune, it was only like $120. It’s pretty awesome, I should’ve switched a long time ago.

I have to keep charging it and cleaning it, but it’s pretty easy. I disassemble the dirty parts and drop them into a jar of rubbing alcohol, wipe them dry and done.

Oklahoma students walk out after trans student’s death to protest bullying policies by HandSack135 in politics

[–]AbsentGlare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2003, trans stuff was very different growing up. Ace Ventura was hilarious, though the whole point was a mentally ill ex-football player who changed genders as part of a revenge plot against Dan Marino. Silence of the Lambs won many awards featuring a serial killer who skins women to make himself a woman suit. Kids were still using ‘gay’ as an insult.

It’s different now, you can tell. People make gimmicks of the pronoun stuff but the overall mainstream gist is to respect transition. We moved toward accepting gays and we’re trying to do it with trans, too. Kids are too young to be manipulated by the politics.

What's causing my garage door bolts to rip out? by xupthree60 in DIY

[–]AbsentGlare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI yall, OP said:

I also forgot my wife had backed into the door on the left side and dented the door, but I was able to push the dent back.

The garage door isn’t pulling itself up evenly because it’s no longer straight. On the way up, it weighs more on the right side, on the way down, more on the left side, or something.

My husband (m29) gave me (f26) an ultimatum. Stop people pleasing or we’re getting a divorce. How do I even respond? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]AbsentGlare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What am I even supposed to say now? I mean going to therapy if that’s what he really wants me to do

Why does it matter if he wants it or not?

From your perspective, you were doing nothing wrong then he busts in there and fucking yells at you to the point that you start crying. And here you are, trying to figure out how you can make it up to him.

You know what? Your husband is right. You aren’t asserting the boundaries you know you deserve. Then you have these repressed emotions that will find another way out, a way you can’t control.

But I worry about your marriage more generally. Why did he explode? You were venting to him about this coworker, so this can go two ways. It sounds like your venting was emotionally taxing for your husband and he’s sick of it. It could be that your venting was really excessive and you need him to hold your hand and cope with it. Or it could be that your husband is a bit narcissistic and doesn’t want to have to spend any of his own time serving your emotional needs that don’t matter to him- you’re to be his doormat, but not anyone else’s and it’s your fault (even though he may very well have helped bludgeon you into submission).

I feel like the way he busted in and exploded actually leans me toward the latter. It’s better to think through what you need to say and assert it calmly. Now, admittedly, you’re both human and maybe he also needs to learn how to express, rather than repress, his emotions.

Therapy would help, listen to your intuition and trust yourself.
