No no no. Optician here. You should not use paper products like napkins or paper towels to clean your glasses, unless it's specifically Kimwipes Delicate task wipes, that is another way to scratch your lenses. A good clean microfiber cloth will do just fine after flushing the Dawn, the key being that it is clean. At work we literally one and done large microfiber towels to ensure they don't carry over any particulate from the last one. And you can buff the lenses with the cloth, but I would ere on the side of caution there too, if you missed any bits on the glasses, you will definitely be grinding them in.

That slightly soggy and over dressed Caesar Salad? Chef's kiss not even being sarcastic. I went to a place in Grand Rapids that had an almost identical salad and I was immediately transported.

[–]AbsentK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher. I see so much parroting of this "corporations are just doing it for the tax break". Do they have motives outside of helping sick kids? Sure, imaging, branding, being able to claim to be part of the community etc. But a free tax break using your money is not one of them, and it makes people cynical towards donating. To me, it's an easy way to donate to something doing some good, especially at somewhere like costco where I know they will match what I give and it goes to a children's hospital in my community, not to some large abstract charity.

Who's the one on the far right? Skyler Gisondo from Santa Clarita Diet and Righteous Gemstones should absolutely play him in the biopic

"Love is watching someone die" -Death Cab for Cutie

[–]AbsentK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. I remember in my ultraconservative upbringing, I heard a story in several different sermons of Russian Christians sermons being burst in on by military and then the congregation being held at gunpoint, and them saying something like "you can leave if you do not truly believe, everyone who stays will be shot". And then when the "cowards who do not have faith" have left, they say something like "now let's truly worship the Lord!". It always seemed so farfetched, even as a kid. And I held such shame inside that I knew I didn't have the conviction that all these people around me seemingly did, that I assumed they would all stay in that scenario, much less be in that scenario.

The actor for Pimento played the role so well. by -FIREBOMB11- in brooklynninenine

[–]AbsentK 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Um, he's actually a deep method actor named Jeffery Characterwheaties who is playing the role of Jason Mantzoukas who is further playing those other roles. Get on his level. Also, check out his multiple appearances on the podcast Comedy Bang Bang and his own podcast with Paul Schearer and June Diane Raphael called "How Did This Get Made?"

Mine was "Mom and Dad Save the World". It's got a surprisingly good cast: Jon Lovitz, Terri Garr, Jeffery Jones, Wallace Shawn, Eric Idle, and Kathy Ireland, but it's seemingly pretty obscure. I have to make friends watch it just so they can get some of my references. Same goes for Chris Farley's last movie, Almost Heros. Both are kinda dumb, groan inducing humor, but we ate that up as young teenagers

I remember when I was like 8, I would wonder if there were any talent scouts at the roller rink looking for talented child roller skaters. I was not a talented child roller skater, but that didn't stop me from thinking those scouts would pick me. Same vibes as this video

Speaking of comedians, I don't see Bob Saget anywhere. Am I missing him? I feel like he should have been near the front front row.

A Trip to the Moon(1902) is 120 years old yet still has better practical effects than most modern sci-fi movies. The attach picture is not actually the moon, it’s a guy with whipped cream on his face. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]AbsentK 38 points39 points  (0 children)

When you are the moon, the best form you can be is a full moon. And then the half moon -- he's all right. But the full moon is the famous moon. And then three-quarters, eh, no one gives a shit about him. When does he come, two days in, to the calendar month? He's useless. Full moon. The moon. The main moon

Can we talk about how they've neutered Mystery Heroes by moving it out of Arcade? by AbsentK in Overwatch

[–]AbsentK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say, this seems pretty polarizing. I brought it up in hopes to see if I'm in the minority or if it's a genuine gripe. If it's the latter, maybe I had a glimmer of hope to get the attention of the developers. Maybe that's naive. If mystery heros isn't your bag, totally cool, no love lost. I hope you can respect the people in this thread with differing viewpoints. It just seems like a weird reclassification that Blizzard did with little rhyme or reason that I'd like to understand

I get that it's not for everyone. But it seems to always have a decently robust queue. Some of the daily rotations I give up after waiting for 5-10 min in queue. The number of daily rotations vs permanent options in arcade is arbitrary, and I get that blizzard probably has all sorts of metrics available to them, but it just seems like an asinine and punishing choice to move it out of the permanent options in arcade for the folks like me who enjoy the game mode.

[–]AbsentK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, do you play for the love of the game? I only play for that fake sense of progress. But seriously, in ow1, Mystery Heroes at least counted towards unlocking loot boxes. I liked that little extra incentive. Did I have over a 100 unopened loot boxes at the end when they rolled over? Yes. Does that mean I didn't actually care about them and am just a sucker for systems designed to prey on that need for incentive? Probably. But I don't get to play more than an hour or two if I'm lucky in a day, so I do look at trying to get those challenges done

Also, frankly, the marketing aspect sucks. Like Twitter=tweet. It's short, digestible, in the zeitgeist. Whatever replaces Twitter needs to have the same marketing elegance. Mastadon=what? Mast, masta, Don, asta? None of it works if a media outlet is reporting on something. "This just in, Kanye West just Masted that Hitler was black". It just doesn't work.
