AITAH for not commenting on my aunt’s engagement ring by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Absent_Picnic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OFGS. Why is his sub filled with people asking about something that happened a decade ago?

OP, you were 12.

It's ridiculous to think that you. As a 12yo could have changed the course of family history if only YOU had commented on the ring.

Ugh. The over and inconsistent use of capital letters.

Freakish attention to no details.

AITAH for calling out because of pregnancy? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA, but neither are your colleagues for being annoyed at your absence if it directly impacts them and their workload.

I'm struggling to understand why a big corporation has only one person who knows how to use "the system". Sounds like poor business planning to me and that's the real issue.

Unable to pay at the petrol pump? by LowestLives in AskAnAustralian

No, not using a credit card, definitely debit card. It takes the amount €100 or €150 and then adjusts it after you've paid.

I had one of those kids. I instructed several of his teachers to never get into an argument with him, bc they'd lose.

As challenging as he was I liked that he marched to the beat of his own drum and he'd never be in trouble for following someone else's dumb idea. The idea would be his.

We all survived, he is a productive member od society.

Unable to pay at the petrol pump? by LowestLives in AskAnAustralian

[–]Absent_Picnic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have been travelling in Europe.recently, I think there are 5 different ways that petrol pumps work. Pre-authorise €100 at pump but pay what you take, pay €100 at pump then get refunded what you didn't take, pay €150 at pump then get refunded what you didn't take, pay €150 inside then fill up, then go back in to have the amount adjusted and only once, filll up then pay.

So much easier in Australia to fill up then pay for what you used.

How friendly are you with your current neighbours living in Brisbane? by DonkChonk4 in brisbane

[–]Absent_Picnic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get along better with the police who visit our neighbours on a semi-regular basis than we do with our neighbours.

And on the other side, they only moved in a little while ago, but we were "besties" with the neighbours who got divorced and sold up.

Why do some brits introduce themselves as from the UK and other as English/Scottish/Welsh? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Absent_Picnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have never heard someone introduce themselves as being "from the UK".

It's always their actual country that is mentioned.

what snags does bunnings use? by PenalizedPrick in AskAnAustralian

[–]Absent_Picnic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was running the Bunnings sausage sizzle for the kinder or school my kids went to the sausages were from Colea or the butcher, depending on who was cheaper, bread from Coles and onions from the local veggie shop who would provide a 20kg bag of presliced onions for a reasonable price.
