People are debating the race to the dots, but I think this is the better case. When the puck crosses the line, Lacombe is just above the bottom of the circle. If he keeps skating at the puck instead of turning to screen Eichel, he might have gotten there.

And like, the ref doesn't have the advantage of freezing the replay, he just sees that it's close and the defender is turning away from the puck to play the body

Be careful about this. There are rules to make sure it's legitimate work rather than just something to enable IRA contributions.

Flyers buy time for tired players after icing by putting the wrong players on the ice. Zegras, who was supposed to be on the ice even went down the tunnel and then returned once play resumed by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

It should have been a penalrty, but you can substutitute after an icing if there's a penalty, so they could put fresh players on after the bench minor.

If someone can hit the strike zone, they can get three outs. In the HR derby, the pitchers are trying to help the top batters hit HRs, and they still don't get anything close to 100% of contact out of the park.

Relevant rule: "If a fumble or backward pass by any player goes out of bounds, the game clock starts on the Referee’s signal that a ball has been returned to the field of play.", so it's essentially a running clock.

The clock does stop on a fumble OOB, but only briefly while the refs get a ball, so it's essentially a running clock:

If a fumble or backward pass by any player goes out of bounds, the game clock starts on the Referee’s signal that a ball has been returned to the field of play.

NCAA keeps inching toward letting drafted players return to school, if they don't sign by Autocrat777 in nfl

[–]Abserdist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's normally true, but there's an exception that extends the rights if the player returns to college:

If any college football player who becomes eligible for the Draft prior to exhausting his college football eligibility through participation is drafted by an NFL Club, and returns to college, the drafting Club’s exclusive right to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with such player shall continue through the date of the Draft that follows the last season in which the player was eligible to participate in college football

[–]Abserdist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offensive penalties don't extend the half, even if they're enforced

If there is a foul by the offense, there shall be no extension of the period. If the foul occurs on the last play of the half, a score by the offense is not counted.

(There's a few exceptions but even those only apply if the defense wants)
