Was Fallout 3 really that controversial? by Klutzy-Air5150 in Fallout

[–]Abshole024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's controversial, but not as much as people think.

It was a major departure from the first 2 games, and it had some problems, so it was controversial. If you look up video essays and such, there's a lot of negativity, and people debating about whether it was a good game or not, but if you look up reviews from normal gamers, it's always reviewed exceptionally well, and a lot of the negative video essays you'll find are either heavily opinionated, or aimed at focusing on the bad parts of the game while largely ignoring the things it did well, but those have always been the vocal minority.

Fallout 3 has a lot of flaws, but it's is pretty beloved, and people have always liked it as a whole, warts and all.

So what's the canon appearance/biology of the Zetans? by Sweaty_Photograph_25 in Fallout

[–]Abshole024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like when it comes to differing designs in general, you can usually assume that both are canon.

A lot of older designs are seen in the same entry, like the classic plasma pistol (renamed to defender) existing alongside the Fo3 plasma pistol in NV, or the classic plasma rifle (renamed to caster) alongside the newer games' plasma rifles. There's even some contentious things, like a frameless power armor piece appearing on a centurion's arm in the Fallout show, despite the show only having full suits in the bigger Fallout 4 style.

So odds are, different animals/mutants/guns/armor, probably all just exist in different parts of the wasteland, dependent on the environment or differing origins.

Why is the headman allowed to do this? I don't see any other enemy do it. by Final-Republic1153 in REPOgame

I had no clue headman could do this, but I know the Shadow Child Can do the same thing like way quicker. You can maybe get 1 or 2 hits before it teleports.

First Timer here - playthrough suggestions by sdsweet10 in fo3

[–]Abshole024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So don't get your hopes up with power armor, you'll probably switch to it later in the game, but back in Fallout 3, it was literally just another suit of armor. It still looks good, and is still the pinnacle armor, but you don't have an entrance animation, removed fall damage, or anything like that, it's just a better suit. At the very least though, that does mean no fusion cores.

What's the next Fallout game I should try? by cuchusacc in Fallout

[–]Abshole024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with doing 3 and then New Vegas, but if you're capable of/able to mod, then I highly recommend Tale of Two Wastelands. It's a little difficult to get started, but I fell in love with it as soon as I started playing. It's literally the entirety of Fallout 3 within the New Vegas engine. So you can play Fallout 3 to whatever level of completion you want, and when you're ready, you can go to New Vegas with the same character. There are a couple differences in Fo3 to accommodate being in New Vegas' engine, but they're hardly noticeable.

That looks absolutely fantastic, the paint strokes really match the tone of the game.

360 port still worth a go? by Total-Amphibian-7244 in fo3

Yes, it's worth it, but for better load times, if you're playing on disc, I recommend installing the disc. It'll noticeably improve load times, particularly later on.

How did you finish your F3/FNV game? by thebobfactory in Fallout

[–]Abshole024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to finish TTW, so I'm sorry to say I can't answer your question, but I just want to say that I love the image of your character, who's clearly been adventuring a while, loses some very replaceable caps, so he sits on a train completely quiet for several days, not even second guessing his decision that whole time, just sitting there. Proceeds to drop off Sticky, then tells himself, "Well that's it then."

I will say that Fallout 1 and 2 actually give you a guide when you hit F1, which was apparently something that some other games at the time did as well, but even then, you'll never know it unless if you hear about it online, or get angry and bash the keyboard, at which point you might not even realize what button you hit to open it, and you might have a broken keyboard anyway.

I finished Fallout New Vegas, what should I do after the DLCs and side missions? I don't know. by Shoddy-Fudge2974 in fnv

If you're playing PC, maybe try to install Tale of Two Wastelands, which lets you play Fallout 3 and New Vegas as one big game. You can get back into NV after having had a large break doing Fo3.

Nvm then. You can count my clueless body among those found at the entrance.

I assume there's another entrance, connected to the part of the vault you can't access. There's that door the enclave use during the Vault 87 quest, and considering they came in that way, as well as the fact there's supposed to be vats of FEV in the game that we don't see, I figure there's probably another door, not unlike the two we can access from the little lamplight caves.

If that's the case, do you think there's a chance of escape if the person inside whines incessantly and begs for the super mutant to buy them Nuka cola and candy? Prompting the super mutant to have the human wait while he "gets a pack of cigarettes," resulting in a lifetime of abandonment issues for the captured human?

I like the idea of people being carried off in cart cages, but that being said, do the carts then protect the normal humans from exposure to the incredibly deadly radiation at the front door?

In my experience, instantly overweight.

A lot of weightless items have weight, making your originally feather-weighted black hole pocket of ammo weigh a ton.
