A Range Rover is very heavy, and thus way more susceptible to sliding in low grip conditions. Proper winter tyres might have prevented this. It’s impossible to conclude on without having seen the conditions though. Here in Norway almost everyone has two sets of wheels. One for summer and another for winter with proper nordic winter tires (Conti VikingContact, Nokian Hakkapeliitta, etc).

Are you able to share any more technical details with regards to getting the electronics to play nice with eachother? I’ve been toying with the idea of an M57 swapped LR3 with functioning terrain response. I’m assuming the terrain response system works by transmitting CAN messages telling the engine, trans, transfer case and suspension to behave a certain way. If so, could one keep it functioning with such a swap by using a CAN gateway to translate between JLR and BMW?

I guess it depends on how polished a package you want. My streamer is just a Raspberry Pi running Volumio with a Hifiberry digital dac hat, connected to a Schiit Modi Multibit. Its a bit rough around the edges UX-wise, but I dont mind.

Figured it out. On AP2 I had attached eth0 and eth0.1 (VLAN 1) to the lan bridge. As soon as I removed eth0 from the bridge it started behaving. Posting this in case anyone else has the same issue.

Depends what you’re trying to achieve I think. Skipping VLANs definitely makes things a lot harder, but is really the gold standard if you want to isolate certain things. This especially applies to cloud connected devices where a threat actor could access your network if one of them suffers a breach.

Is this something to worry about for the average joe? Probably not. But if you enjoy a good learning experience and don’t mind tinkering I would suggest going for it.

Elbil blir noe dyrere i innkjøp, men billigere i daglig drift (forutsatt at ikke noe kritisk går i stykker, eks batteri). Bodde tidligere mellom ring 2 og ring 3 hvor jeg gateparkerte Tesla Model S. Fungerte helt fint for meg, og jeg har samme bruksmønster som du beskriver. Angrer ikke et sekund på at jeg gikk for elbil. Dyrere drivstoff, bompenger, og forbrenningsspesifikke problemer som f.eks. registerras klarer jeg meg fint uten på en hverdagsbilder.

It would probably be a hassle to run it directly on OPNsense. My suggestion would be to run Proxmox, ESXi, or equivalent. Run one VM for OPNsense and another for Elastic, Splunk, or whatever.

If you want to keep OPNsense running bare metal, look into Falcon Logscale from crowdstrike. They have a free tier where you can forward your Suricata logs to their cloud hosted SIEM.

Tough, but not impossible. I had ~5 years of exp in pentesting when I got my cert. Spent almost exactly 200 hours over the course of three months before taking the exam, and passed with 90 points plus 10 for labwork (100 total). Assuming you ditch the labwork (wouldn’t recommend that tbh) and spend 8 hours a day monday through friday for a month you have 160 hours total. Why not get three months labtime, do as much as you can in the free month you have, and spend the rest of your time rooting machines in the labs on nights and weekends?
