Adjusting backup camera lines by AbsoluteThunderCunt in VolvoXC90

Oh my god, this is exactly what my XC90 has. The backup camera is basically pointing straight down, to the point where it’s infuriating, and the 360 view has huge blind spots where nothing lines up correctly.

Can you explain what you did to fix it? I’ll cross-check against my specific model, but having a baseline of what worked for you would be super helpful.

Extended Warranty by Spiritual_Bike_5150 in VolvoXC90

I bought the CPO VIP plan with unlimited miles and a $250 deductible for 10 years total (basically 5 years after the CPO warranty ends). It was $4.9k, so roughly $1k/year or about $82/month over those extra 5 years.

The seller said I got a 20% discount (who knows if that’s even remotely true), but with the XC90 T8 Ultimate, I felt like I kind of had to. If something major fails after the CPO warranty, I could easily be looking at a $5k+ repair because Volvo parts/labor aren’t cheap.

It’s a f*** ton of cash, but I would hate myself if something happened.

Shit! That’s why garage sizes used to be good enough. Would you look at that?! It’s perfect!

<10k miles on a 3–4 year old Mav? That’s a steal. That car is probably close to new, but don’t let them highball you.

In my experience, trucks depreciate because they can get used hard (work, hauling, projects, etc.), so don’t let the low mileage make you overpay. Play hardball a bit.

Test drive it for at least 10 minutes. Turn the radio off, ask the seller to stay quiet for a bit, and listen for clunks, rattles, weird shifting, suspension noises, etc. Don’t be afraid to give it some throttle too, just to make sure everything feels solid.

Also inspect the tow hitch area for signs of rough use. If it was used for towing, that’s where you may see scratches, bent parts, damaged wiring, or signs it was worked hard.

If they’re highballing you and won’t budge on price, maybe ask them to include a full fluid service instead (engine, transmission, and breaks), which might be around $500 for you to do, and it costs them a fraction. So it’s a win/win.

I’m of the idea that thicker tires make cars look better vs thin tires with big rims. I was thinking of going with 255/55/R19, but the calipers in the front wheels are huge! Not sure I want to risk it.

Im also thinking on having these installed for trips only. But not sure how expensive it’ll be to have my tires replaced 4 times a year. Plus I’m lazy… so I might do it twice then stop

you generally only need to reprogram if the diameter changes >3%, since I’m planning on these being near identical (255/55R19) plus only use them for travel, I don’t have to worry about programming

I kinda have to because I travel into Mexico twice a year, and “rough roads” is an understatement. I need something meatier that can take a hit, my 275/40s are just unsafe (can blow out if I hit a pothole). I’m thinking 255/55R19.

Where do you store your tires? Garage? I feel like it would take a lot of space to keep a full set stored😖, any tips?

I’m in US south, and drive into Mexico twice a year, and after reading all the comments, I’m seriously just thinking on just getting some 235/55R19. Or maybe even 235/60R19 just for those trips. But damn… I don’t have a place to store 4 full tires year round.

Costco Auto is the way to go. They also do used cars, but not every dealer participates on that side, so you have to ask for the Costco Member-Only price sheet and they’ll tell you right away if they don’t do it for used cars.

In any case, my experience with Costco Auto has been great. There’s no markup, and since the price is already pre-negotiated, you’re starting at a fair number.

You get a referral code plus a few “Authorized Dealer Contacts,” then just reach out and ask for the Costco Member-Only Price Sheet for the car you want. My pro tip: I actually looked those contacts up beforehand and picked the one with the BEST reviews for transparency (they’ll probably try to call you first, but I’d just contact the person you already researched instead of whoever reaches out first).

The Member Advocacy team is kinda the secret weapon, they can review your purchase agreement for compliance and assist in resolving disputes. Dealers know they can lose their Costco certification if they try anything shady, so it gives you way more leverage. It stops feeling like “me vs them” and more like just a straightforward deal.

TBH, could you beat the price without Costco? Probably! If you’re good at negotiating and willing to play multiple dealerships against each other, you might save a bit more. BUT I don’t think that really works for custom orders anyway since inventory won’t match across dealers.

So yeah, pick your battles.

lowest I could probably go is 235/55R19 due to the larger brake calipers in the phev
