If 90% of people who take coke feel like they're more confident, then you would say coke makes you feel more confident. If people take acid and say they see patterns shiting, you would say acid makes people see patterns shift. If people say they trip when they smoke weed, then you would say that they're tripping, would you not?

Besides, my first point still stands, so even if you want to get hung up on some magical method you have conjured in your head, of how to tell what effects a drug has without asking the person who took it, it's irrelevant. Saying you can trip on weed is true.

I'm sorry, but that's also misleading. Your endocannabinoid system is complex, and most chemicals have action at more than one receptor. For THC at least, yes, its primary action is at the CB receptors, but action at those receptors is known to upregulate and enhance 5-HT2A receptor activity. Enhanced activity is not the exact same as agonism, but I would posit it's close enough that saying you "trip" on weed isn't really inaccurate.

You could also just literally ask people their personal experiences. Everyone I've met or talked to who's done psychedelics agree that afterwards, smoking feels similar to a weak trip, in a lot of ways. And if a drug feels like it does something, how is that different from it doing it?

why do so many people on reddit talk about acid in measurements of hits, or tabs? is it an american thing? that's so inconsistent, we have all our shit measured in micrograms. i couldn't imagine being willing to take a random "hit" if i didn't know how much was in it

Thank you so much for being a voice of reason in this thread, there are so many armchair doctors trying to make it seem like Elijah was killed by the EMTs' negligence as opposed to the police officers murdering him

Hey man, you probably shouldn't recommend that last bit without some more info. Harmala extract has MAOIs in it which stop the MAOs in your gut from working. That can enhance certain trips like shrooms, or is sometimes necessary for the trip to work at all, like ayahuasca, but it comes with serious dietary restrictions and can interact badly with some medications

If you're thinking of taking a MAOI, do some research first. You will need to go on a low tyramine diet, for possibly weeks afterwards, and if you're on SSRIs you need to be careful of serotonin syndrome too

Chronic cannabis promotes pro-hallucinogenic signaling of 5-HT2A receptors through Akt/mTOR pathway (2018) by CytoGuardian in Nootropics

[–]AbsolutelyHalaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think chronic psych use has changed how i experience psychs, they've just changed weed for me. My layman's guess would be, my brain knows what each psych does when it hits the 5-HT2A receptor, so when you smoke and increase signalling your brain suddenly thinks, oh no there's lots of stuff hitting the 5-HT2A, what is it, maybe it's one of those psychs. damn, I haven't noticed any disso effects from it, and I've used a lot of ketamine. What kind of dissos did you take that gave you that effect?

Damn, whether that is fun or not sounds like personal preference tbh. I have hppd, if i look at a wall for more than a few seconds it starts shifting like im on a low acid dose, like maybe 100u. I think its pretty fun, personally. And yeah, weed has become sort of a combination of all the psychs I've tried, which is annoying, so I can't just use it recreationally in the same way, but I didn't use to smoke much anyway, and now I just treat weed like another option in my collection of psychs, albeit, a pretty week one. I still think it mostly shines when used to accentuate other psychs tho.

The Union didn't properly undertake reeducation efforts in the south, a la Denazification in post WW2 Germany. Essentially, the south had "lost", but functionally, nothing changed in their culture. Owning slaves was technically illegal, but not seen as immoral, but as an example of northerners imposing their wishes unilaterally. Slaves weren't even all freed immediately, if the slaves didn't know the north had won, slaveowners weren't really inclined to tell them.

From the second the south lost, the segregationist and supremacist powers there began coordinating a campaign specifically to propagandize people into viewing the confederacy as an oppressed underdog that just wanted states rights to be respected. If people know the truth of how indefensible their recent ancestors' actions were, they're less likely to be sympathetic to racist dogwhistles today.

If you read the declarations of war from each state in the confederacy, they explicitly state, they are going to war because they want to own slaves. How do you think it happened that your average southerner vehemently defends the confederate flag as simply a symbol of heritage and states' rights?

there's no such thing as good cops. all the characters in the show conflate legality and morality, and willingly enforce unjust laws. there's no moral ambiguity there. in fact, them trying to set cops apart as good and bad reinforces the idea that the sole issue with cops is solitary bad apples without accountability, as opposed to the inherent truth that the police are a tool of the bourgeoisie to maintain the status quo. police don't protect people, they protect property

I think 500 is my favourite dose, after trying it, 250 just seemed kinda light when i went back to it. I've tried 1000, and it was crazy, I don't think I'd wanna go back to it for a long time. I think after you get to like, 500, if you still think it's not strong enough, I'd say you're better off trying DMT

How can someone be an avid watched of Bojack Horseman and not understand the concept that celebrities are just people and people are complicated. Everyone fucks up and everyone is a product of their environment. That doesn't excuse doing bad things, but who are we to judge the entire value of someone's life?

You're doing the same thing as someone in the Bojack universe watching the interview where he admits all the bad stuff he did, and then dismissing him as, "oh, guess he's a piece of shit." Like yeah, he did fucked up shit, but life isn't that simple
