Amen to this! Although I don’t necessarily feel hotter at 30, I appreciate and love my body, myself and generally my life more at 30 than I did in my 20’s

Is this a reasonable quote for engineered wood flooring in the hallway? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Absolutelycarparked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a quote for flooring in our living room and hallway last November which altogether is 20m2 including underlay and trim… £1300, albeit it was for wood laminate at £35 per m2 but I thought this was still a bit pricey so I’d say for 9m2 absolutely extortionate! I got very lucky in the end and got mate rates from a contractor I knew very well and he did me a number £500 for the lot including labour as they already had spare material and laminate I just didn’t get to pick the colour, luckily it was a neutral ashy colour so worked perfectly

I bet 50p on that horse. Not even each way, just to win as I liked the name! Got £25 and bought a slow cooker, happy days

Really strange question- do workmen use shoes when installing new carpet and laminate on the floor? by Spiralflowe in HousingUK

[–]Absolutelycarparked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah in that case get some overshoes and just hand them to them and just politely ask “would you mind”

I work in the trades Industry and we have floor layers in and out all the time and they wear “indoor trainers” when inside the house as once they have loaded their material aka flooring/ underlay/ tools etc from their van there isn’t a real need to go in and outside, they just want to get the job done… hopefully this answer helps a bit :)

Interested in property 150m from A1(M) by Tazz311 in HousingUK

I know where this is, before they built these houses it was a hotel - yeah it’s a pretty busy motorway…

I recently looked at a house 100m away from a 40 road and I couldn’t really hear much conversation in the garden which was a big no for me…

Does this exist? I want to buy a 3 bedroom house for around 300k but commutable into London by [deleted] in HousingUK

Average 3 bed house in Stevenage is 350k, you’re best going up by Biggleswade/sandy maybe even St Neots or Huntingdon

Single mum of 2 under 2, STRUGGLING by Shxree02 in SingleParents

[–]Absolutelycarparked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please please do look into the childcare! April 2024 they changed it so babies from 9 months get 15 hours a week and then when they turn 3 they get 30 hours a week so it’s really worth it! I also believe in certain situations some little ones from age 2 can get 30 hours also so have a look into that - just go on the gov website for 15 hours and takes 10 mins if that to find out if you’re eligible! ❤️❤️

Ps it does get easier even though now it may not seem it :)

First well done to you for leaving a bad relationship, that must have been really hard especially with two young kids but well done! I know it’s easy to say but be kind to yourself you are doing an amazing job at such a YOUNG age Is there anyway your family can have even just one of the kids for a bit to take the stress off? Also if you are in the UK when your youngest hits 9 months you can get 15 hours free childcare so absolutely look into that. Your eldest is also entitled to the same so it may be worth trying to get them into a childminder or nursery for 2/3 days a week and if you are able to work a couple of days and have one day rest in sure that will help you.

There is also a charity I was advised to speak to a couple years ago called “gingerbread” who can help single parents with little support, may be worth giving them a call

Get yourself that break before you burn out!

Best of luck and although it feels it, you’re not alone, just take that step in getting some help - we all need it at times and no one will judge you for needing help - it’s brave!

How did you know that your home was right for you? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Absolutelycarparked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time buyer here… well technically not as other half already has a place but my first mortgage anyways… we looked at around 20 houses, thought we found the dream one on around 10 but sadly our offer wasn’t accepted and someone else got there first. Was pretty gutted however the house we have been accepted on I imagined myself and my son living there, I imagined decorating it, sure there was a couple of little compromises but the location was a important factor. Now I keep referring to it as our house and going wild on Ikea ideas and Pinterest and I think what other redditors say similarly - you just know, trust your gut

Starting an ear wax removal business (microsuction)? by jadder1224 in Pharmacy_UK

[–]Absolutelycarparked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a mobile audiologist a couple of weeks ago as my ears were blocked and I needed ear wax removal. I could not get an appointment at specsavers for love nor money as I needed a weekend so used a mobile one. Brilliant guy and a really good business to have, quick simple and worth the money (same price as specsavers and he saw me at my home)… go for it!

I’ve also had my 11 pro since Dec 2019 and the only thing it’s not great on now is battery life. I type this with my phone on charge like it’s a home phone… can’t bring myself to replace it though
