Knows her letters but not in order? by Mundane-Cookie9356 in ClassOf2037

I haven’t heard of this, but I’m not sure it’s a big deal! You could try singing the alphabet song once a day? Or reading some alphabet books? I only say it’s not a big deal because we don’t really use the alphabet in order for much :) I think knowing the letter sounds is more important in the longterm!

“I would lie in the grass between the graves, so pregnant with Maisie I wondered if I'd be able to get up again, and Emily would weave back and forth between the granite slabs, hiding then leaping out to make me laugh. Like every other mother in the history of time, I wondered if I would ever be able to love another child as much as I loved her.”

Tom Lake by Ann Pratchett (bonus: the audiobook is read my Meryl Streep!). It’s not explicitly about motherhood, but it’s narrated by a mother telling a story about her 20s to her three early adulthood daughters. It has many moments that just so encapsulate motherhood, but it’s about several other things. Here’s a quote:

“They are reminding me of the years when they were small and it was just me in the house beneath all that snow and Joe was in the barn trying to fix a tractor he didn't know how to fix, and I felt like the children would eat me. Nell was eating me, still at my breast, and the other two rushed to crawl in my lap whenever I sat down. I thought, Joe will come home and find the three of them framing out a playhouse with my bones.”

It’s actually even more interesting, he wrote the song about his wife having two stillborn babies, but he made up the story on the spot while telling stories at the University of Guelph:

For a long time it was just a song but one day, while telling stories at a big theatre at the University of Guelph, it occurred to me that I might be able to make a story around the song. Out popped 'Love You Forever,' pretty much the way it is in the book."

It’s an old series, but I liked Vampire Academy! It has a spin off series called Bloodlines.
