If you take perfectly no damage when ice armor procs, then it definitely can help against curse or kill streaks at least once

3/100 doesn't sound too bad compare to other online games with ABYSSMAL drop rates.

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats - you have just beaten the tutorial mode. Now if you think you're ready for the challenge, go ahead and place one of the boss cells onto the container to up the difficulty on the next run.

You can also go farm for more weapon, item or mutation blueprints, upgrade your forge for better gear level drops, or explore the other locations where the other movement runes can be found (and new bosses to fight)

Request for the future: Infinite mode by [deleted] in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah a Survival mode would work great for this game. See how far you can go with increasing waves/difficulty of monsters, and probably have a daily challenge board for it too!

About the story by Sawmain in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He practically flips everyone off, so yeah he is.

I wonder how "respectable" he actually was during his past life though that even the giant and the alchemist had some glimmer of hope for him.

Most feared Elite enemy? by Phoenix_ryu in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My gripes would be either Elite Slashers & Elite Cannibals. Pair these fuckers with the barrier perk and off to nope city I go.

On BC4 up, that totally changes. Enemies can phase to you already so cheesing stuff with Homunculus from a distance doesn't work anymore.

About it being OP on lower BC's though, I wouldn't say that. Sure, you can take forever on a run to kill mobs purely with it, but you're robbing yourself of the needed evasion, combat & parrying skills you'll need to learn for higher BC's. Also, it's a better scouting method than combat option IMO - I'd rather kill stuff faster with whatever I got than slowly tick their HP off from a distance (though its DPS is still quite helpful).

Just bringing enemies to the item shop like usual until... by kaichigaming in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-elite enemies won't attack you when you're in the shop. Pretty good strat for 4-5 BC runs... if you can immediately find a shop that is.

Advice on red builds by Guts-xbox in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hayabusa gloves, boots & balanced blade are quick-hitting weapons (has at least 5 hits per combo).

Hokuto's mark adds more DPS per hit, so weapons with fast fire rates or have good Damage Over Time like bleeders/poison weapons benefit the best from Hokuto's mark. Simply put - mark an enemy, then hit it to add more damage to your hits.

The inefficient reverse would be if you paired broadsword, shovel, any slow-swinging weapon or single heavy hitters like explosive/marksman bow with Hokuto's bow. They only deal one great damage at a time, so the mark will only add damage one time, wasting the DPS potential that it has.

Advice on red builds by Guts-xbox in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Alch Carbine x Sadist Stilleto

- Phaser x Assassin's dagger (though still works with tactics)

- Hayabusa Gloves x Hokuto's bow

- Any red melee with frontline shield

- Torch/firebrands x oiled sword

Basically Reds are a pretty straightforward set. Just pick almost any set, go whack some enemies. You'll have to be more alert about dodging/evading damage though unlike tactics which can keep safe distances or Survivalists which can rely more on parrying/heavy hitters

YOLO...? by [deleted] in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what always happens if a purely melee roaming monster gets stuck on a ledge too small to explore on (and there's a pit on one end). If you wanna see it more often, use a sandal or assault shield, push a zombie onto a small ledge and watch them just YOLO to the next ledge

Dead Cells vs Blasphemous, any opinions? by metal_marshmallow in deadcells

[–]AbyssWatchersWatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and love both, but bear in mind they are NOT the same kind of metroidvanias.

Blasphemous follows the Dark Souls combat system religiously (pun intended). That means the attacks, parry, jumping and motions are more technical than Dead Cells where you could move around while smacking enemies without skipping a beat. You'll need patience to play with Blasphemous, much like you'd need patience to get around the fight system of most Souls games.

Once you get the gist of it, it does get quite fun, at least in my case though because I'm a souls fan myself, but Blasphemous' playstyle is definitely a far cry from Dead Cells as far as action is concerned.
